Grey Georgian Bay

It was a good day for a drive about 2 hours South of us...
just to do some small town exploring on a dreary wet rainy day around Georgian Bay

It included a stroll down a quiet main street, a pizza devoured under a bridge & us anxiously
jumping in the truck to zoom back home cause we both suddenly missed our 8 fur-babies!

Compost Cutie

I always feel lucky that I have such a handy guy (even after 23+ years he never fails to impress me).

Well he loves to compost, kitchen stuff, rabbit stuff, you name it if we can compost it, we will.
So we needed a much bigger composter because all of our other ones were full.
So as I worked on my own project (the never ending kitchen deck painting!)
My hon bun set out in just one day to make us a new one...

I just love it, he did a great job (and man I just think he's super insanely cute...swoon...ha ha).

Snuggly, Soft, Sweet and Sleepy

This week I am working on these, a realistic colored pencil, an acrylic on wood & a teacup bun...

But you know, it's awfully difficult sometimes to be good and forge ahead with work and art

When you've got snuggly, soft and sleepy sweet souls beckoning to you to join them for a snug x 8!

Wooden Weaving Wonderful

I just had to show you...My Dad made me these...
As I watched Matilda acclimatize to the wild, he sat beside me; carving, sanding & oiling them...

Aren't they just so beautiful...
Now I can really dive into my new venture of weaving

and I can do so even more happily because every time I use these shuttles,
I'll smile knowing that my talented Dad made them just for me.

Stringing The Sweetness

Most of the time it's all of the little beautiful things,
a bunch of loveliness all stringed together that makes for amazing days...

Like a beautiful and inspirational new book to soak in...

Taking time to watch your sweet pea help you sort through groceries...

sitting down to enjoy a tea and a plate of healthful yummies...

Gazing with a smile at some lovely flowers your honey brought you just because your you...

letting yourself push away all that's not necessary right this minute to enjoy these last few warm days.
Sometimes it's just grabbing onto gratitude and squeezing super hard to the happy
as much and as many times as you can throughout a day.
Hope your enjoying yours XO

Pretty and Pleasing

Just sketching up something pretty whiles a bunny eats strawberries...

This one has no meaning, no story, no purpose other just to be visually pretty and pleasing...

Sometimes you gotta let your creative brain rest and just let your fingers dance!

Leaping Into Gratitude In Progress

So last week I showed you all the beginnings of this piece...
here is a bit more of my process on this new piece which will be called
"Leaping Into Gratitude"

When a magazine editor asked me to create a mixed media piece for a possible cover,
I gladly jumped in.  I still don't know if it's been chosen or not, I will assume it hasn't been
but I sure do love how it's turned out and I can't wait to show you next week.

Lemony Lentil Soup, Sunflower Pate & Than Snooze

Hi ya everyone.
Well as promised on Instagram, I am going to share
two of my all time favorite dishes with you.
They are both easy to make, super satisfying, super healthy for you and both completely vegan.

First is my Lemony Lentil Soup
(This is a staple dish in our house and I've perfected it over the years.
Everyone I make it for loves it and they always ask for the recipe).

To Make:

In a big pot, heat about 2 tbsp. of olive over medium heat and than toss in one big chopped onion.
Add 4 or 5 finely chopped garlic cloves and a pinch of cayenne pepper.
Than finally chop a nice big handful of fresh parsley and that to the pot.
Peel and finely chop a potato and a nice big whack of finely chopped kale and add to pot.
Than add 1 heaping teaspoon of cumin...don't forget the cumin!!! and salt & pepper of course.
Than your going to put in 1 and a half cups of red lentils and stir them all in
(you can use green or brown lentils too but they don't break down as much as the red).
Add to everything 6 cups of vegetarian soup stock and 2 tbsps. of lemon juice and stir.
Bring this all to a boil and than turn it right down to a simmer...
make sure you cover the pot with a lid and let it cook for a full hour.
Serve with fresh parsley if you want...extra lemon and a slice of the pate.
YUUUUMMMM.

*********************

Now for my Sunflower Pate

(This is healthy and so insanely delicious, I bet once you try it, you'll be hooked
we love it spread on crackers or even fried up in the mornings as part of breakfast, it's SO tasty).

To Make:

Whiles the oven is preheating to 350 degrees
Grease any pan that you would normally use for a loaf, I like my ceramic 4 x 10 inch pan
Than just toss all of the following in a food processor...
1/2 cup water
1/4 olive oil
1 onion, peeled and chopped coarsely
1/4 soy sauce (or a bit more if you like it really salty)
1 large potato, peeled and diced
1/2 flour
1/2 nutritional yeast (yum)
1 cup of sunflower seeds, salted or not (keep these in your freezer so they stay nice and fresh)
4 garlic cloves
1 tsp of thyme, oregano and 1/2 tsp of sage.
Than...
blend all for that up really good until pretty smooth, pour into your pan
and bake for about 40 minutes or until a fork comes our pretty clean.

Gobble these two recipes down and than take a nice long siesta
cause you deserve it, cause life is tiring and most of all because it's good for you
just like that yummy food ya just made.
Yummmm.

I really hope you love them and that they make your tummies happy.
XO

A Perfect Day

Back when Matilda was here
This was one of my most favorite days of summer...

I worked on a piece with a tight deadline surrounded by buns, a sunning pigeon & my handsome hon.
It just felt like a perfectly perfect peaceful day.
