WHEW & PHEW & AHHHHH!

Wow, that was a hard week with such hot hot hot motionless air and heavy humidity, ugh!
We ended up going old school by doing all our cooking outside or eating cold pasta outta a can!

It was too hot to even turn on the computers so pen and pencil were dug out for work!
We were getting near our wits end.  Days were kept quiet and dark as possible.
All I did was try not to pass out, drink tons of water, eat very little for my appetite was gone
and go from rabbit to rabbit, wetting ears, adjusting fans, doling out treats to keep spirits up!!
There was such a rare stillness in the air,
the whole city seemed quiet as though everyone was tiredly waiting & wishing for it to break.
But finally late last night, after a very long week, relief came whooshing in with a heavy downpour
and today we have wind....oh my goodness the wind feels heavenly today, ha ha!

We're finally able to get back to the outside...to have windows and doors and curtains wide open
we're all breathing a sigh of relief, especially the buns....WHEW & PHEW & AHHHHH!

Basking in Bastin

I've been learning about one of my all time favorite artists, Marjolein Bastin
It's so easy to sink in and bask in all the beauty this talented woman creates, wow!

I've also been basking in the beauty of flowers galore both in and outside of the house.
What's making you happy this week?

The Back Deck Project

Well one project we wanted to get done straight away was our back deck redo...
We've been wanting to refresh and improve this much used space for some time now.

I am always SOOOOO glad and grateful
that I have not only a handsome bearded honey but one who is also very handy & hardworking.

After a long harsh winter we had to take the old gazebo down because it had seen it's best days...
our winters are so hard on any and all of our outdoor areas and stuff.

We put up a structure for a clear roof all by our handy little selves, ha ha...
Painted it...sanded and re-painted the floor and VOILA.....

Well, okay!  It wasn't just 'Voila', ha ha, it was a lot of work but it was so worth it.
We made sure to get this all done in early Spring so that we could enjoy it for a nice long season.

I just love sitting on the pillows on the floor at the long bench Japanese style with some food.
Or stretching out on it to watch the rain.

I love all of the flowers.
Oh flowers galore.

I love sweeping it and keeping it all clean
because it feels like the loveliest spot and keeping it up is me respecting & appreciating it.

I love putting on the pretty white flickering lanterns at night.
I love just watching the buns play about.

I love sitting here in the mornings with my espresso and a book.
I love how the chickadees bathe and drink from the fountain even with me sitting right there.

I love it all by myself or with the bun babies.
But I especially love it when I have lovely company to share it with.

Art Cards at Michelle's FrameMaker & Gallery

So one of my favorite local shops is Michelle's FrameMaker & Gallery.
She has been carrying my handmade art cards since 2007.

I have such fond memories of visiting this Art Shop & Gallery with my Mom as a young kid.
We'd go in regularly to look around...I think my Mom knew it would inspire me.

Michelle carries the most beautiful art prints & other really cool stuff including
being thee best local spot to get any framing done.

I am so honored that Michelle has been carrying my cards for so long and I love it because
when I go in to see her, I am also getting too see one of my very most favourite beautiful souls.

Besides buying from me,
The FrameMakers is currently the only place in town where you can buy my cards.
Do check them out at 168 Main St West in North Bay.

The Pagoda Project

I wanted to share this big project with you guys last season but I forgot to take good shots!

So here we are, this was our first big Spring project last year...our new 'Pagoda'

It was a huge job of tearing down our old gazebo which we had made also years ago.

We had to remove the old patio bricks, pull out dead trees, redo the walkway, etc...

Once my honey sets his mind to something he's like a workhorse, ha ha, so we got it up pretty fast!

We wanted to make sure that it was done quickly so the rabbits could safely use their yard again...

But also of course so that we could make sure to really enjoy it all season long too.

And enjoy it and adore it, we do...ahhhh.

It's one of my favorite places.  especially cause we made it together, just us twosome.

We created our own little Shangri-la, I think...and I am pretty sure the buns love it too.
