Pencil On Watercolour Paper
I really fell in love with using my beloved colored pencils on really textured watercolor paper.
I feel like the colors are so deep and I can layer like crazy, especially with the Prismacolor.
Sometimes I drag my heels on images because I am multi-passionate & can't decide on a medium.
but now and then an image just scream on out
"I want to be done in watercolor...I want to be a lino cut...I want to be ink pen on board"
I love it when that happens and I try not to ignore the instinct.

Red Star Delight
Well we've been having a heck of a time with me and with the buns, especially Flynn.
More on that soon but for now I needed to share my newest piece with you all
(Flynn was indeed the model for this one so I thought it was fitting given all we're going through).
"Red Star Delight"
You'll find prints in my shop.
The original is not available at the moment.
I am hoping to get it on t-shirts etc but I am still looking for a place I am comfortable working with.
I am really really happy with how this one turned out
and Flynn made a most spectacular model if I may say so myself!

Pishner Coming Along
Mr Pishner Toppingale is almost complete, the colored pencil part is atleast. People always ask me how I come up with my character names but it's no secret & it's simple, they just pop into my head.
I have quite a few new pieces to show you all but my scanner is still dead & I haven't found
a decent replacement that I am happy spending my money on yet so bare with me!

Couldn't Fight It
Well I couldn't do it....I couldn't leave the background white as I so very strongly planned to do!
I just had to hide my beautiful owl, I had to make eyes seek out all the whimsy like normal....
and that is okay, that's how this all works best, with fluidity and with a willingness to listen
to what your picture wants to be...why fight it...it's part of the magical dance of making art!

She's Looking Pretty
I am doing this pretty doll on watercolour paper which takes layers of colored pencils beautifully
but which I find a lot more time consuming because I find that you do have to put down more layers to cover the texture of the paper (I like my paper grain to be hidden by the time I am done)...

I am glad I started showing you guys all of these detail & in progress shots.
I think it's nice for people to really see all the detail I put in my work.
I hope your enjoying these closer looks?

First Colored Pencil
The first colored pencils of the year has to be rabbit themed too...naturally right, ha ha!
I am moving slowly on this one, usually when the colour scheme isn't complete in my head I do that.

Autumnal Dance
Well the rain started and sure enough about 10-15 minutes afterwards
the head pain (which turned to a migraine today) started to ebb away to almost nothing...phew!
So I was able to get into the studio tonight to finish
"Autumnal Dance"
I admit it, I love how it turned out.
There is no concept, no fancy story, just a play of pleasing shapes and colours.
It was an effortless dance admist autumnal colors, inspired by one of our fall kayaking days.
I plan two others to make a series of 3.
The original will be up for grabs soon & prints will be in the shop by Monday.

Cup Of Sweet
It's cold and gloomy out and the sky is littered with yellow falling leaves...
The day calls for something cozy and sweet like my newest image here
"Cup Of Sweet"
It is the sweetest tiny size at only 8 x 10 and done in Prismacolor on Stonehenge paper.
I'll let you all know when prints hit the shop and when the original is up for grabs.
Have a wonderful weekend and see you next week I hope XO.

Selah
I finally finished it and love it and I've changed the name from 'Grow' to
"Selah"
It's about pausing within ourselves so that we can heal from the bumps and lumps and bruises of life.
It's about quietening ourselves so that we can find our way back to seeing how we can shine brighter.
It's about listening to the wisdom all around us so that we can go about life more lightly in spirit.

Estrella
Meet my newest quirky character, she's quite the gal and very stoic for very good reasons...
her name? you may ask, why it is "Estrella"
She is a kestrel don't ya know...
but to hear and learn about her most interesting background,
you'll have to keep an eye for my book.
For she's one of the characters who will make it up.
