Fishless Fish

Hey guys did you know that there are fishless fillets out there, these ones are from Gardein

and they are sooooo fricken good.

I especially love them with steamed kale & carrots & vegannaise.

The one thing I was missing when I went vegan was fish and tuna salad sandwiches

but products like these are the perfect kind substitute & they actually taste like fish. Yayyy.

If you haven't tried them yet, I highly highly reccommend them.

I turned 41 on November 9th.

It should have been a great day, I love celebrating my birthday

but alas it was the shittiest birthday because I ended up in the hospital

with what we now believe to have been e.coli.

I was eating a lot of romaine lettuce right when it was recalled and pulled of the shelves!

It might not have been that but the way I was sick was not anything I've ever experienced before!!

I am finally feeling better now but man oh man it was rough...I didn't know what was going on

and I am just so thankful that I am okay now and back to eating.

I actually dropped about 5 pounds in 2 weeks from just not being able to eat.

It's scary to me that lettuce of all things can make us sooo sick,

especially with 10 vegans in our household, we rely on our greens and it's so sad and upsetting to me

that contamination from animal agriculture is making the world so sick in so many different ways.

I've had the complete honor of making new friends this past year

and those new friends names are Laura, Merle, Stuart and Kenneth...

They are all turkeys.

I always knew turkeys were cool but I had no idea that they were so super duper amazing.

I mean seriously, look into Stuarts eyes here in this photo I took this past summer.

So full of intelligence, kindness and life...a will to live, an enjoyment for life is so so present.

So for my new friends sake, for millions of turkeys all over the world,

for better healthy body choices and especially for some healing of this big badly broken world,

I really really dream & hope that more of you have made compassionate choices this holiday

and that your not celebrating your life with loved ones over the tortured death of another soul...

because they all want to live as much as you and I, trust me on that

& happy happy kind ThanksLIVING XO

Spring Waltz

Goodbye Jaks Jelly Bean

I've been putting this off and it's one of the big reasons I've been so sporadic with posting

because I just couldn't post yet to tell you all that our Jaks has passed away.

He died on October 2nd at 9pm here at home peacefully with his family around him.

He was 13 years old, our oldest bunny ever, he impressed us every single day with his tenacity.

He helped pave the way for so many of our rescues.

He's one of the beginning reasons that we've dedicated ourselves to helping misfit buns.

He was & always will be one of the best & most tenacious rabbits, we've ever been lucky to care for.

He is the very last of our original crew.

I've been missing him fiercely but quietly, just like he lived.

The day before he died he had a great afternoon outside and even had an evening time spa treatment.

He passed with a fluffy as can be face, with all knots combed out and with a belly full of clover.

I shared my upper studio with this little guy for over 10 years and it's feeling very empty right now.

It's a real adjustment to suddenly not have to schedule our lives around his twice daily heart meds

and at this moment, I miss the routine because it always meant to both of us that we were lucky

cause that strict routine meant he was still with us, I still think it's medicine time!!

I still think I hear him cough, I still jump up to check on him etc.

He fought so many things in his lifetime, way too much for any one little soul but he pulled through it all with flying colors because that was him...a spirited soul of brilliant colorful tenacity.

Now he joins his bestie Jinny up there in the stars, I hope they are pop-corning together like crazy.

He fought congestive heart failure 9 days short of 3 years,

we can't even express how incredible that is, it's unheard of...he was a miracle in many ways.

I loved being your Mama Jelly Bean, you made me a better person through and through.

I will carry your tenacious heart in mine Jelly & I will never forget your sweet sweet neck kisses.

I will miss you Every. Single. Day.

Soul Mates

I finally finished this piece, which was really a journey of healing for me.

It's of my departed bestie, sunshine, honeybee & favorite girl Teela & our sweet sweet Yuuji.

I am titling it

"Soul Mates"

The original is for me and me alone.  It's going on my side of the bed.

I am currently setting up a new shop so you might (soonish) be able to get it on bags, mousepads etc.

how anyone could discard of such precious souls so heartlessly is beyond me

but they've found beautiful sanctuary now at The Piebird Farm Sanctuary & I am honored

to be part of their lives and to be one of the lucky ones watching over them as they grow.

We were so happy to be able to help out the awesome San Diego House Rabbit Society

again this year when they requested more of my art prints for their annual fundraiser Bunnyfest.
