Nubbins Now Available As Prints

Finally...Finally I am getting my dear sweet 'Nubbins' into my shop as prints.
I'd like to introduce the actual 'dolls' as well but that depends if I can get enough pieces cut and
prepped before the snow keeps me from the garage and my tools (it's already pretty cold out there!).
Up until now they've only been available for purchase directly from me, from local sales,
from local galleries or through my own studio.
Atleast for now they are coming out as prints...
Here are the first 3 available in print form...

Nubbins 'Ellie Ebben Gray', 'Avril May Aviva' and 'Lillie Fionn Lapradie' now available as prints.

Interested? Just hop on over to my Etsy shop to have a look-see.

Hope your weekend was wonderful.
Ours was very beautifully cozy as we were stuck inside all weekend due to rain and bad migraines.

XO A recovering Bijou & Her Beautiful Bunnies who are listening to Jesse Cook in the studio today
(We JUST saw him & his band in concert & they were amazing, a blog post on that coming soon).

A Birthday Present

So my sweet niece turned 9 just last week.
(YIKES Time is flying by!...)
I asked her 'Munchkin, what do you want for your birthday'
and she thought about it...

and than said "One of Your Birds With the Twigs...
But All in Black & White"

Well, who can resist their niece asking for a piece of original art, ha ha...
Her wish was of course my command...

I turned one of my 'Nubbin' birds into a black & white version
and painted a different bird on each side so she can flip it from time to time...

Happy Birthday Munchkin
You awesome little girlie You

Nubbins In The Window....

As most of you already know I am part of an artists collective which runs a gallery/store called Art On Main...each month our member Rachael designs and sets up the windows and I love taking photos of them and documenting them...here is February's small window...

...and lookie 3 of my Nubbins are in the window, again:D ha ha...I admittedly just LOVE seeing my work in the street front windows, it makes me proud and excited....

On the top is "Lovely Lalita" than lower down below is "Avril May Aviva" and the one holding the bunny is "Lillie Fionn Lapradie".

...and the larger window is a group showing....my coloured pencil "Conjure One" is included again(the colourful birds on the wall in the pine frame:D)...
I love the little arts collective I am a part of and I am so glad I decided to give it a try....I joined in June so I guess we're rounding up on my first year of joining...I do hope I can stay on another year...Espeacially when we get to spend our shifts in the gallery/store with great company like Coco, one of our members doggie:D....
Well, that's all for today....time for a cup of something warm and sweet and some bunnies snuggles before getting back to my coloured pencils....Hugs everyone.
p.s. This week is looking like it'll be posts on AOM stuff. If your interested to see an exhibit my friend Jana is having, join me here this Friday. We had fun hanging the show together last week and it's a kind-to-the-earth solo show with some interesting and playful forest fellows. Next week we'll get back to bunnies and artwork:D!

New Things At The Gallery...

Did I ever show you all my newest Nubbin? I don't think I ever did...well here she is, my sweet yet serious keeper and care taker of all the oceans starfish "Ellie Ebben Gray", isn't she cool? I brought her into the gallery this week and I am hoping she's adopted into a new home soon.

I also brought in some of my hand stitched felt stars...

...and some of my nubbin bird decorative ornaments....

Here's a shot of the new goods in my gallery section...I brought in tons more cards as well...
....AND also these Nubbin bird versions on stands with funky little twig crowns...
...and now everything has sweet little tags with clear and inviting info etc...even these took me a few hours to do, every little bit of having a handmade indie business takes time I suppose...
I was thinking of making new batches of all these items and putting them into my etsy shop, what do you think?

Art On Main Window Display

Twelve days ago I was at Art On Main setting up my work in the front window...I was asked if I wanted the space because one side was not booked and knowing that August is tourist time, I jumped at the opportunity... So with two pieces new to AOM and a few pieces from the top of my space in the gallery and I filled up the wall space...

...but I really wanted my decorative dolls, my precise 'Nubbins' to be the main focus, so I laid down big pieces of felt from my studio and I think that all of the great colours in my dolls against the black really makes them pop.

...and voila...my window display which will out for all to view for the whole month of August. I still have a few tweaks to make, I'll fill a couple spaces with a couple newer paintings and I'll make some signage, something like "Come on in and see the fabulous work of Mandy Saile..." ha ha just kidding but something along those lines just not so cheeky:D!
...so if you happen to be local or if you happen to be coming from out of town...please do enjoy our cute little main street, which is only getting better with time...
...and when you walk past Art On Main, have a look at my stuff in the window and than come on in and say...
..."Please may I purchase that pretty little doggie..I mean dollie...in the window..." Ha ha.

My Nubbins Are Finally Out In The World...

I am excited and nervous to finally be officially introducing my beloved "Nubbin" art doll line to the world via my blog and soon my new website. Here are my first 6 dolls...I will introduce each one individually over the next 2 weeks or so and as I properly introduce each lovely lady, I will also let you know when and where they will be for sale.
I have been keeping them under wraps for awhile now, I don't know why...fear is a fickle but strong thing! I think I was worried about people ripping off and stealing my ideal...and I am sure those with no creative bone or talent will do so, but I am trying to keep positive and know that it's my illustrations and the unique little personalities I conjure up that is the most special thing about them and I am confident that that can not be copied. I hope they are as loved by everyone else as they have been by their creator/maker, little itty bitty moi, Mandy Saile a.k.a Bijou of 'Bijou's Whimsy'....may they enchant and delight as they are meant to do:D
