Art Cards

Did you guys know that my Art Cards have begun to hit the shop?

They are all hand-cut, hand-folded and handmade by yours truly in my sweet rabbit filled studio.

They are also:
Archival
blank inside leaving lots of room to write
printed on velvety smooth heavy weight bright white paper
a lovely 5 x 7 which is perfect for easy framing
and each one comes with a really cool translucent envelope.

These four designs are already available.

Because if your a lover of this dear blog of mine,
than your likely to not want to just send any old mass produced run of the mill greeting card...
You'll want to send a handmade with heart art card
one which can be framed and enjoyed by yourself and/or your loved ones for years to come.

A New Illustration "Spring Soul"

I am so content with this newest illustration of mine, which is funny because half way through I almost gave up on it! Now it's one of my favourite new illustrations in my studio...funny how things work out. It is done in coloured pencil on illustration board and the original measures 10" x 14", however I am hanging onto the original right now for an exciting new venture of mine...which I'll share soon.

You can however get beautiful archival prints of it here in my shop. Enjoy.

I also 'renewed' abunch of older images that had expired in The Shop...I hope those are enjoyed as well...I wasn't going to renew anything that didn't sell in the first round, but that's not exactly fair to my images...they deserve another shot to sell as prints I decided.

Until next time...Be Well and Happy Creating.

A Beautiful New Shelf/Door & Pantry

So over delicious holidays my ever so talented and handy honey made this beautiful and very useful addition to our cozy little abode....

It is the door to our new pantry area and I am so excited and happy with it. It's a lovely new place to display some of my work, such as cards, small paintings and jewelry. But it feels like a wonderful secret everytime I open it to go into the pantry (which for about 7 years now has been such a disater. It was simply a place for us to throw everything we didn't know what to do with). So over the holidays it took a good 3 days of sorting things out, recycling, redistributing and just plain chucking and Jonathan spent another 3 days giving it a fresh coat of paint, putting in lots of shelving, new flooring etc...he did a wonderful job. Here is what lays behind the shelf/door....

...and yes of course, being somewhat of a neat freak...even the pantry has to be orderly, the only room I don't organize and touch, and yes begrudgeling so, is Jonathans office space on the main floor, I want to trust me!
Last but not least I wanted to mention, to any of my local readers who like to come by my studio to browse, look or purchase, I do have a good selection of Pretty In Print fabric cards, by my talented and lovely friend Judit Gueth. They look great alongside my cards on my newest card shelving.
Well with that bit of new goodness shared, I am off....lots to do, lots to do...Happy Creating and join me tommorow for a new little Avian Painting.

An Old Illustration "Bunny Christmas"

Hi all, I am sorry but with the horrible week I've had thus far with migraines, posting an older image is about all I can manage for today's post.

We've been getting alot of snow though so it's defiantly feeling like Christmas around here. This is an older coloured pencil illustration of mine and seems to be one of my best selling holiday cards so far. The cards are all hand made, hand glittered and sparkly and if I must say so myself....fantastic.

I plan to put some holiday card sets in the shop early next week but for now I must be off and get some work done whiles there's a lull in the constant pain....until tomorrow, Be Well and hope your feeling better than I am! XXOO Mandy.

A Christmas Image & A Day With My Dad

Good Tuesday Everyone. I am having a 'weird' and somewhat slow week this week which I won't get into at the moment, as I do still intend to keep this blog primarily focused on my art, my artistic journey and my creative inspirations. So I'll just say I am feeling 'off' and I'll keep plugging away.
There will definitely be a new little painting tomorrow but for today, because it's been feeling abit 'xmasy', let me show you one of my favourite illustrations. I did this xmas image a couple years ago and made it into a greeting card, it's one of my most popular ones but only people who have bought the cards or seen me at craft/art sales have seen this image as I never did get around to posting it on my website and only now just on this blog. So enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

A print of this image will be available over at the shop very soon.

We had a very quiet but good weekend. Saturday we did not step foot out of the house which was nice for a change because it seems like the last couple of weeks one of us has had to go out on some errand every single day. My battle with sinus congestion and daily headaches throughout the whole weekend unfortunately. On Sunday I ended up spending some time over at my parents in the wood shop with my dad. My dad was helping me cut some wood and gave me a lesson on the scroll saw where I successfully cut out my little intricate bird pattern, so I was really happy about that. I have ideals for a whole new series, very unlike anything I've done before involving wood and knowing that I'd be comfortable enough to cut my own pieces makes the whole ideal seem that much more do-able and approachable. I can't remember the last time I spent some time in the shop with my dad like that so it was really nice, nostalgic and cozy for me. As a kid I always hung out in my dad's shop, it's a very comfortable place for me. I remember him giving me lessons on the band saw or drill press, I'd throw wood in the stove to keep the shop warm, I'd help him with simple things. Even when I got older, I always would pop in to see what he was working on. I guess that's why I am just as comfortable hanging out and shopping in a home depot as I am in a Pier One Imports, ha ha...Thanks for your help dad.

So until tomorrow....Be Well Everyone...and yes indeed...Happy Creating! XXOO Mandy.

Custom Boxsets Available

Good Afternoon All. I think I only got 2 hours of sleep last night so I let myself sleep in this morning knowing if I didn't, I'd be completely useless and aimless all day. I get what I call 'The Nighttime Natters"...when my brain, my heart, my creative spirit is just talking to me all at once, about 10 different projects at once and I get so excited that I just can't sleep. However instead of getting up and getting to work, my stubborn side pokes its head about and says 'no stay in bed, you'll fall asleep soon and you'll be better rested to start fresh on all those things tomorrow..." Never happens that way though because soon after the nattering begins, I start to worry at the same time....did I send that email, why isn't that supplier getting back to me, should I get a new printer, when will my check come, sure that's a nice ideal but will it make money, when will I find the time to do that, etc etc...aha see everyone, creative people don't have it super easy, we have our stresses too.

Today I must get some cards prepped and sent away to a charity auction fast approaching. I must get some painting done. Linears finished off and emailed. And a painting ready for delivery to it's new home.

I thought I should mention at this point that I do offer custom box sets. Each of my box sets comes with 4 designs (12 cards and 12 colour envelopes)...you can choose which four designs you want in the box. There is no extra charge for the custom boxes, just allow me a few more days to make them. If you want the box to be sent to a friend or family member, I can do so also. For imagery to select from just go to my website. Soon, on the new website there will be a lovely section just for the art cards, I can't wait.

I thought I would add this older photo...I like to do little local art markets once in awhile, espeacially at Christmas time. I always enjoy meeting new people and also hanging out with all of the other vendors/artists. I always end up trading with half of the people, which is great fun.

My awesome lentil soup has been consumed, my blog updated, my recent audio book of Henry James "Portrait of a Lady" finished off, the bunnies snuggled...now, with a slight headache, I can get back to work.

I hope you are all well and until tomorrow...when I'll be posting this week's mini-stamps....Be Well and Creative.
