AOM Members Show...

It's been a busy time for events for the arts collective Art On Main, that I've been a member of since this past June. Another event happening this month which I am involved in and you may have heard me mention before is our members show. The great thing about this show is that everything in it is only $100.00 so it's a great opportunity to buy a piece of art for a pretty great price!

There are a bevy of beautiful things such as wooden bowls...

Framed original artworks and prints...

...there are textiles, pottery....

and even unique wall hangings...

or adorable handmade Santas....

I have my eye on this beauty!....I naturally have the exact place picked out that I would put it!

...And for myself...I have four of my original handcut papercuts in the show....

So for anyone local...come on in, have a browse...buy a paper cut or two by yours truly:D and give the gift of a beautiful piece of artwork to yourself or a loved one. The show runs till the end of December and new pieces will continually be arriving.

I apologize if I've been abit absent on your blogs the past few days but I've really been having a hard time with constant and bad migraines and it keeps me from my usual enjoyments, such as surfing my fellow bloggers blogs...but I'll be back at it soon hopefully!

A New Paper Cut

I am behind schedule on posting things but that's okay in the grand scheme of whats really important...I finished this 8th papercut a couple weeks ago during my last Art On Main Gallery shift...and once more I am very pleased with the results.

What do yous think? Should I list all 8 in this series as prints in my Etsy shop?

I had a crazy successful weekend of drawing out new pieces for my upcoming exhibition and I am so so excited about all of them. I am hoping to have 6 new pieces, but even I know that's ambition when working with coloured pencil so we'll see...wish me luck!

Another New PaperCut...

Another New Paper cut...7 of 8...This is one of my favourites of the series. Today I have to share this link a friend sent me...get ready to pee your pants...well maybe it's only pant-peeing material for those of us who have a love/hate relationship with our printers...and a soft spot for silly animal antics...check the youtube video out here...enjoy!

Another New PaperCut

Just popping in quickly today to share with you all another new paper cut in my Heart and Home series... I will be offering these prints in the shop soon, I will list all prints of all 8 in the series at the same time and you'll be able to choose what colour of background you like the print to be on, such as black, green, purple, brown or blue...than the originals will be mounted on painted wood blocks, sealed and hung in my space at Art On Main once they are juried in. Also today I wanted to mention a new blog...my pal Julie B. is on this amazing adventure through Scotland and the Highlands...long story short she befriended the actress Tilda Swinton in London at a sushi bar and a few months later Tilda has sent my friend a plane ticket to visit her and has planned this incredible adventure for Julie along the way...which will also include kayaking with dolphins, deep fried mars bars, and running in a kilt in the highland games! ha ha...so if your interested follow the blog here...I know I will be tuning in whiles being ever so slightly jealous at the same time! kayaking with dolphins..omg! ha ha...I wish her health, fun and safety along her journey.

A New Papercut

We've been having such great weekends and I have so much to share but today I am just going to pop in to show you all a new paper cut I just finished last week. I am really happy with it and I can't wait to see all of the originals hanging on a wall at one time...that's coming soon. I will have 3 more of these paper cuts to share, there are 8 in the original series and whether I build onto the series or branch off into a new subject/theme I don't now yet but I do know that paper cuts is not something I will stop doing anytime soon, though they are hard on the wrist so after these 8 are finished I might take a break for a couple weeks to rest my hand. It feels so good to find a new medium...soooo good. Right now it's late Monday evening, on our civic holiday, its been raining all day and has been super gloomy making our rabbit warren even cozier...we've had movies playing, did some rabbit bonding between Haz, Jaks and Jin, made some strawberry jam...and now my pencil crayons and another movie in the bedroom are calling to me...ahhh cheers to the versatility and mobility of beloved prismacolours. A New PaperCut and Busy-ness

I barely have time to pop in lately but I did want to just long enough to atleast show you all my latest papercut... I've been getting some great new cutting tools/pens but I have to say that the $13.00 Martha Stewart one found at walmart with the light green mint handle is by far superior to everything else I've tried. I gotta run, life in and out of the studio has felt very crazy the past month and a bit and I feel like I've barely been able to sit back and enjoy any summer and today being cool and only +11 it's feeling like summer has already come and gone! My heart is happy however just coming from a much needed two days away in the big city with my sweet guy and best friend. And on Saturday there was a successful opening for the group juried exhibition "Art By The Bay" out at the Dufresne Gallery, which my honey and mom were kind enough to attend with me (some photos to follow soon). Another New Paper Cut "Home and Heart 2"

As promised here is a new piece...another paper cut, the 2nd in a series of 8. I think the art of paper cuts is so very calming and relaxing because you have to a) concentrate fully on not cutting your finger off! b) concentrate on following your lines and not messing the design up and c) always applying enough pressure in the right places so the delicate paper pieces don't get torn asunder. Than when your done you end up with this really elegant looking piece of work that can take up as much time as you want it too and be any size you want it to be, etc...yeppers paper cuts is defiantly an art form for me. Not to mention that they are the perfect thing to work on during my Art Collective shifts because I can stop and start them at the drop of a hat and all you need is the design on paper itself, your cutting tools and a folder to protect the piece so therefore it's very light and easily transportable. Prints of this one will be placed in the shop shortly. Wanna see the 3rd one soon? It's coming as I am sure I can get it finished off during my next AOM shift. Did I already mention that these paper cuts look pretty fabulous on necklaces...I'll show you that soon as well:D! Anyhow...I don't care how tired I am tonight, I refuse to relent on my plans to crawl into bed atleast by 10pm, plug in the laptop and browse all my favourite blogs because I haven't had time for blog visiting and I sure do miss seeing what everyone out there is up to.

My First Paper Cut "Heart and Home 1"

Hi all. Well it's been abit crazy around here in the studio...lots to prepare for...so today's post will be short and sweet. I finally...FINALLY! did a paper cut and I love it, it's very addicting and I find very akin to the art of lino-cuts. Even the designing and making sure your contact points and stability are in the right places feels very relaxing and of a different challenge. I never paid much attention to paper cuts until I saw Elsa Mora's work, she inspired me to try my own. Here it is...the first in a series of 8 called "Heart and Home"...what do you think?

It will be available as a print very very soon but today I just don't have time to do the listing, but I'll let you know as soon as it's available in my Etsy shop. Until next post Be Well...I am off to finish a hundred tasks and to listen to the fantabulous Michael Buble whiles doing so (who's sooo not crushing on him after the excellent Madison Square Garden concert? which I just saw on tv but still, ha ha...).
