April Snow War...Winner...Brute Force Attack With Jeep!

Some people don't believe that our climate is changing!
Than how is a foot and a half of snow in 48 hours IN APRIL happening?!
Oh my goodness...this was just the other week...thankfully for a 2nd time it's looking like Spring.
The poor buns are so so sick of the white stuff.
(Well except for Yuuji, he's a snow bunny).
Every morning we open the door to let them see outside and at this point they aren't even
going out for their usual 5 to 10 minute constitutional!
They sniff, get this look of disdain on their faces, turn right around and go back to bed, seriously!

It was a horrible weekend, because whilst I found the thick falling snow cozy & beautiful,
my head disagreed and since barometric pressure is my biggest headpain trigger, it was no party!
I had a monster migraine...I did my absolute best to help my sweet hon bun shovel,
but alas, we only got so far before putting our throbbing noggins together
and deciding that a simple brute force attack would be most efficient!
So we used our Jeep to make two big pathways and that was that...the rest could melt on it's own.
You gotta pick your battles after all don't ya!!!

Spring Thaw or Winter Cocoon?

We had a winter storm last week that dumped something like half a foot on us...
It was a really cold winter with very few days of snow play for the buns...
but the newest buns from the shelter actually don't seem to love the snow a whole lot,
not like our older crew;  Ella Luna, Roo Boo, Hazel, Jin and Noo Noo.

But at least it's a bit warmer now so we can start getting outside again...
(Jaks has a much longer wait since his whole entire belly couldn't be any balder!)
Every bun seems stir-crazy.  Every bun is digging at corners, blankets, pillows, etc.
I do always love the cocoon of a cold winter season & all the work I tend to get done during winter.
But for the buns sake (and our house!) I am hoping for a quick spring thaw!

Lionhead Snow Play & Snarls

Emmett hasn't been an easy rabbit.
He hides, he growls, he bites & scratches and fights with the other buns...our poor little babe.
We've actually talked about changing his name from Emmett (Min-Min) to Oscar the Grouch, ha ha!
But we always remember that he's had really rough beginnings...he's extremely untrusting.
Though, he's very well behaved when it comes to using his potties, not chewing, etc.

But atleast for some small portion of each day, we see him mellow and trust a teeny tiny bit more.
He allows us to rest our heads against his for a few minutes at a time for a lovely warm snuggle.
He'll climbs all over our backs and legs (he just seems extrememly afraid of hands).
And he popcorns out of the blue, usually in the evenings
....when he popcorns we know we're doing a good job...and that feels SO good.

Wintery Play

This has been us lately, in a nutshell...
outside dealing with loads of snow & bringing a fluff or two along with us for some snowy exercise!

Teela, Yuuji and Frenwyck like the snow so they get dibs on this seasons outdoor time
because Henrie, Elsie, Emmett, Flynn and Jaks aren't into the snow and cold quite so much
(and ummm psssttt isn't Teela thee BEST colour ever! Ha ha)

Winters RoundUp

One might think that it's  a wee late to be doing a post with winter as its theme,
but we have had snow around these parts right up until this past Thursday!
And well, I couldn't pass up showing you our favorite photos
of the buns frolicking & exploring in the snow.

The newbies, Teela, Flynn, Yuuji and Frenwyck, especially had fun exploring their new yard areas.

Flynn was a stray so we were not sure if he would like it outside,
since being a house rabbit struggling to survive outside couldn't have been easy for him.
He was leery at first but he started having fun once he realized he was going back into the house.

Teela was scared to complete stillness her first two times out
and we were not going to force her, if she didn't like it outside than that was her decision
but on the third gentle try something clicked and she realized she was safe and
soon enough she was more adventurous than the boys.
I was so very proud of my beautiful girlie.

Frenwyck the Magnificent loved it outside right away.
He has such and amazing and beautiful fur
and it blows in the wind in a way that just makes your heart softly go ''ahhhh".
He is a spaz in the house & is even more so outside, as you can see from these shots, ha ha.

Yuuji seemed comfortable out there straight away as well
but it takes him abit of time to check things out before he's willing to let loose and play.
Mostly he just wanted to nibble on everything that he could fit into his little mouth.
He's not even a year old yet, it's so fun to watch him experience new things, he's such a sweetie.

Jinny and Jaks enjoy the fresh crisp air of winter and they like to eat the snow.
I think being older buns now, they prefer short outings
and then it's back to the warmth of the house and to their sunny window bench they happily go.

Spending time outside with rabbits, be it in the winter, spring, summer or fall,
feels like home to my whole heart.
It soothes me and fills me up like nothing else can.
I am honored that these babies found their way to us.
I have absolutely no doubts that the universe guided them to us and us to them.

And thanks to my bunny honey who is as obsessed with taking photos of our furry kids as I am.

Hope you enjoyed seeing the buns in action?
Aren't they just so beautiful and awesome,
But you know me, I could talk about the rabbits all day long and probably late into the night too.

The newbies have all settled in beautifully.
Yuuji and Teela are now bonded which is spectacular.
Everyone is currently in good health which we are SO thankful for.

Life is bunniful and beautiful...

Now enough with winter and onto summer, wohoo.

Snow Bunnies

We're enjoying some warmer winter days around here...
humans and bunnies alike (though secretly I think I am part bunny, shhh)...

It was even warm enough today for me to learn how to do an oil change on our Jeep Wrangler, Cool.
An EXCITING post SOON to come.

Jinster Gets Snugs

Every year the rabbits have to get used to the new winter season & not being outside half as much.
They can get abit bored...Jin seems more prone to it then the other buns.
So we're snuggling her up more on the couch when we watch movies
or like in this photo, when I am stitching away.

She goes & sits at Jonathan's computer desk to keep her dad some long-eared company.
She gets extra blankets to play with.
Extra boxes to enjoy...Jonathan moves the box configuration around daily which keeps her happy.

For any bunny parents out there?? Do your hon buns get bored during the long months of winter???
