Happy For Our Yard

We are lucky to have a nice big private yard...

I feel for people stuck in apartments during quarantine.

We've been isolating for over 7 weeks now...

being out in the yard with all the buns makes it easier.

Winter Wind Down

The buns didn't have a great winter this past season because of everything

that was going on with my honey, where there were so many unexpected rush visits to the ER,

I found myself too nervous to be bringing the buns out just in case we had to suddenly rush

to the hospital!  and not single one of the 9 are easy to get back inside,

you can beg & plead & try to convince but pretty much have to be patient & wait for them to tire out!

When they did get outside though they sure did have a blast.

Misa & Higgins have the most fun I think.

Because of the surgeries I was on my own alot with the shovelling so I am pretty proud of getting it all done on my own and so grateful for the times my Dad dragged his snowblower over too.

Things are melting pretty fast now...they are excited for Spring & for their sake, so am I.

Meet Barnaby Fizz

Everyone meet our newest rescue...

He is a very special soul so he needed an extra special name so we've decided to call

He's not a rabbit, not really...he's some magical little being who looks part wookie, part magwai!

He has quite the tale so far but my time for blogging is too short today so

The All Clear

Awesome news you guys.

We took Flynn to the doctor this past week for a recheck on his ear

(I am posting these photos of him and Henrie because we all miss Hen so much)

and we have kicked that infections butt, whoot whoot.

The hole in the eardrum is a lot smaller too so it's possible that he'll get his hearing back afterall yayy.

Yuuji & Leisel

Hey, did I ever tell you guys that Yuuji and Leisel bonded???
It's been quite awhile now but I don't know if I ever announced it.
When we decided to adopt Leisel, we knew she had behavioral issues to work out
but Yuuji had lost Teela, his best friend and he's such a sturdy steadfast patient guy,
we really felt like if anyone would be a good match for Leisel it would be him...
so we divided the bedroom in half so we could bring Leisel (a special needs adoption) home.
Truthfully, it's far from easy bringing new buns home, it's a pretty intense process
because we are a home for so many other buns but we are used to it by now to know that whiles
things are hectic for a bit (and definitely inconvenient with gates etc!) things always settle down.

It took a year before we were able to start bonding them.
We don't usually start the bonding process until they show certain behavior at the bonding gates.
When they stop trying to bite each other, when they stop getting worked up when the other one moves along the gates, when they start throwing themselves over near one another, it's than time.
We were starting to wonder if Leisel would ever calm down enough for us to see if they wanted to be buddies but sure enough almost right at her 1 year adoption anniversary, they both started to show the signs that they were ready for face to faces and a few weeks after applying all of our bonding tricks with a whole whack of patience, they bonded...
It's always one of the most satisfying things for us, when we get to remove gates separating buns!
They aren't the closest pairing we've ever had but they really like each other
and being near Yuuji has been nothing but good for our poor messed up Leisel.
Aren't they gorgeous together though.

Soul Mates

I finally finished this piece, which was really a journey of healing for me.

It's of my departed bestie, sunshine, honeybee & favorite girl Teela & our sweet sweet Yuuji.

I am titling it

"Soul Mates"

The original is for me and me alone.  It's going on my side of the bed.

I will let you all know when/if prints of it hit my shop...
I am currently setting up a new shop so you might (soonish) be able to get it on bags, mousepads etc.

I hope you love it as much as I do.

Missing Her

I've been feeling heavy in heart with missing Betty-Loo...
It's still hard to look at photos of her, she was so sweet and gentle and lovely.

I just found these photos of her that I thought I already posted but actually hadn't yet...

We were having one of the most perfect days in early Spring...

We had just adopted her...she had just bonded super quickly & easily with Henrie...

we were looking forward to a beautiful life together but our time was stolen by the unfairness of life.

Goes to show that you just never ever know & that's why despite all the shit present in every day

we have to concentrate on the love, on the good, on the pure & beautiful as much as possible XO.

Cozy Tuesday

It's a dark & rainy holiday Tuesday today.

We spent our morning with the buns, our afternoon duckling snuggling.

Than we came back home to the buns & an evening of Murder She Wrote episodes

A Tad Sporadic!

myself a pass since in about 10 years of blogging it's really the first time I've ever done so!
