An Accident & Reminder
Hi guys....
well Lady Leisel decided to try to take the tip of my dominant finger off a few days ago!!!
so I haven't been able to type much or do much of anything in my studio...
I think I have a few more days of healing before I can start again
because even typing this hurts...argh!
Yes, Leisel has behavioral issues for sure but this was just an accident between us ladies,
she saw me coming with a carrot piece for her...
she apparently was starving and couldn't wait and she jumped up unexpectedly,
chomped down on what she thought was the carrot but was indeed my finger tip
and the weight of her falling back down with my finger in her mouth
just about sheared the whole tip off! Fun stuff!!!
I can't stress enough...rabbit teeth are incredibly sharp!!!
It took about 4 hours of holding it above my head for the bleeding to stop
but the whole time instead of panicking about the nastiest bite I've ever gotten,
I was panicking about what if I had to get stitches...!
I was panicking about what if I had to get stitches...!
what if the doctors thought I had an evil rabid rabbit & tried to come take her away!!
So I was convinced I couldn't go to the hospital for stitches no matter what...luckily I didn't have to!
But yep, that's where my mind went
than I calmed down a bit and started worrying about infection because it was pretty deep...
no one could know that my Lee Lee did this...
Yep, ha ha maybe I do watch to much Grey's Anatomy!!

My goodness....ugh....
but ya know this is the perfect example with Easter around the corner,
but ya know this is the perfect example with Easter around the corner,
to remind people that rabbits are not good Easter presents unless you've done your research.
Rabbits are very emotional little beings, some more than others and as cute and cuddly
as they look a lot of buns do not like to be held or picked up or are fussy with how they are handled
as they look a lot of buns do not like to be held or picked up or are fussy with how they are handled
and for whatever the reason, be it mistreatment, mishandling or a very hungry tummy...
sometimes their nasty pointy teeth make an appearance!
So please think about that & make your Easter gifts chocolate, not living breathing beings
that deserve the world but instead might be dumped outside or in an already crowded shelter,
like Leisel here was, she was clearly abused and clearly neglected before finally
she was dumped at a shelter where she had to wait a long time for experienced adopters!

Snowy & Cold But Snuggy
I always wonder about where you, my readers and visitors are visiting me from specifically...
I don't know about your Winters but around here it's been such a cold and snowy winter.
We had over two weeks with Siberian temperatures & winds with
some days seeing us in the -30's and a few times we even dipped into the -40's.
I don't mind it so much myself, in fact I enjoy it because it makes inside all that much more cozier
and my honey works from his home office much of the week too (plus autostart on the Jeep helps!)
but it's a long season for the 7 buns, especially the snow buns like Yuuji and Leisel,
so for their sake I hope it warms up so that we can get out there for some snow play & fort building!

The Warm Life Of A Rescue
Most of the rabbits either don't care about the fires or are a tad scared of them...
Flynn however lives for them...he adores heat whether from a roaring fire or from the hot water rads.
He stretches out and sleeps by it all day (or night) long...if he were a cat, he'd be purring loudly.
Ahhh the lucky life of a rescue, I feel so lucky in return, to give this luxury to him, he deserves it.

Groundhog Grateful
I will probably be hissed at for saying so ha ha
but I am glad the groundhog saw his shadow!
I am glad we're expecting 6 more weeks of Winter!
I love the quietness of winter, longer studio days inside, the beauty of freshly fallen snow,
the coziness of dark at dinner time with lite candles...
I am not ready for Spring yet...I want Winter to stay awhile longer yet!

Pink Xmas, Pink Heart
We were going to skip Christmas this year, because of Teela
but than we realized that wasn't very fair to the other sweet buns who like the sparkly lights etc.
but than we realized that wasn't very fair to the other sweet buns who like the sparkly lights etc.
So we got the studio tree up first, it's for Henrie, Elsie & Misa to gaze upon & dream under.
It's full of favorite ornaments and hand-made love, like this felt one from my friend Deb Dunn.
and this sweetness from my rabbit loving and creative pal Michelle from the Raspberry Rabbits...
(Henrie had to pop out of the blanket to supervise the decorating of course!)
and this gorgeouness from my animal loving kindred friend Natascha Rieper
life is hard...it knocks us down many many many times doesn't it, especially as you get older...
So you've gotta put up sweet pink trees, treat your pink heart kindly
& eat pretty macaroons with honeyed cocoas as often as possible!

Meet Misa
Everyone I want you to meet somebunny very special
a cute as a button cutie pie...
Misa
(pronounced like 'Me-Sa')
We adopted her from the Toronto Humane Society just over a week ago...
I didn't tell anyone right away because it was feeling tender & raw
(especially cause her face is so like Teela's)
yet it's been so wonderful and warm and amazing at the exact same time...
We wanted to just sit within it all, just us two, with her, for a short spell before telling anyone.
She was so scared, timid, shy, shaking in a corner, not friendly nor easy-going
like a lot of the other buns there at the shelter and I admit I was nervous when I first met her,
she was by far the most skittish rabbit yet but I reminded myself that she must have been
feeling so unwanted and so very displaced and confused,
she was at a shelter before the THS too, poor girl, being bounced around is never easy for a bun.
But she's doing such a good job settling into her new home already,
she's calmed down immensely, the shaking has stopped,
she's snuggly & sweet and loves to be kissed and smothered with love
(however picking up is not allowed right now).
She already wants to be friends with Henrie & Elsie and flips herself over
onto her back constantly for them (which is a sign of friendship from 1 bun to another).
She has a voracious appetite so much so that
we have to sit with her when she eats because she eats so fast she chokes!
She is super duper insanely soft and super duper insanely sweet...she melts our hearts
Adopting so soon after Teela wasn't on my radar at all,
but my honey saw this little love and told me that he thought we should consider adopting again
and my heart warmed to the idea right away, especially when I saw how eager he was.
And if I've learnt anything from my sunshine girl Teela & from this newest baby,
it's that life is short, we have to do what makes us happiest and
we should fall in love
as often as we possibly can.
Join me Friday, I have somebunny else that I want you to meet!!!

The Biggens Enjoy The Green Outdoors
The Biggens, Elsie & Henrie are not the easiest rabbits to bring outside for play-time!
Elsie kicks & screams (literally) but once they are out they enjoy themselves, as you can see!
