Ag-Gag Bill 156

Is my face imploring enough to get you guys to please please please take a moment
to sign a petition to tell our government that we, as caring Canadians,
do not want to see ag-gag bill 156 passed.
This is a bill that allows animal agriculture to keep getting away with it's wicked evil ways
by gagging the truth, by punishing animal activists and those who want and need the truth.
It stops all of us from standing up for the voiceless and it stops the truth of what really happens behind those walls everyone wants to but can't keep ignoring for the sake of our own selves.
This bill is not in any way shape or form a step forward for humanity, it's a step back
and accepting this bill is closing your eyes and allowing us to take a step back into the dark ages...
we have to be smarter than that.  Our chances of fixing things now are slim but there's still a chance.
This is not a vegan thing, this is a human thing, a freedom of speech thing,
a kinder future thing, a truth seeking thing, a connect the dots thing.

Canada has some of the weakest animal protection laws in the whole world,
and as a Canadian aren't you ashamed of that?  This bill will only add to our bad track record.
Allowing this bill to pass will say that Canadians don't give a crap about helping to protect our very most vulnerable and innocent or about the right to be able to make informed decisions.
Allowing this bill to pass further encourages animal abuse.
This bill gives power to the greedy and heartless
and punishes and silences those wanting to better the world.
Petitions DO have power but only with numbers...
this petition is already over 14,000 signatures strong
but it needs more to get the attention of the politicians.
So I implore you, as a human being wanting a better future for everyone, not just animals,
please please sign this petition (just click here)
and say HELL NO to Ag-Gag Bill 156.

Huey The Woodpecker

So years ago we had to get a big 40 or 50 foot dying tree cut down in our back yard
but we asked the tree guys to leave like 15 feet of the stump and here's why...

Huey our woodpecker.  He comes every year and he chips away at the dead stump
and finds lots of food in there.  It's so satisfying & amazing to watch him, he works so hard to live.

Stop Ontario's Plans To Increase Wolf & Coyote Hunting

I wish I had a picture of a wolf or a coyote to get your attention for this post but I don't.
So instead picture wolves, coyotes and moose running in this setting, together, in their natural habitat
because this is THEIR NATURAL HABITAT & in this day and age it's about time we learn to protect instead of constantly taking and destroying!
I am ashamed to be Canadian if this new law gets through.

Quickly put, the moose populations are on the decline
But the real reasons of the decline are not being addressed.
Climate change & hunting are the culprits, end of story.
The Ontario government wants to change the hunting regulations
because that's them blaming the moose population decline on wolves and coyotes!!!
Wolves and coyote and moose have for centuries been co-existing.
Wolves and coyotes are simply NOT main predators of the moose...
hunters are...
climate change and therefore food source changes, pest problems etc are....
NOT wolves & coyotes but the hunting community of course wants everyone to think so
and the the government is under pressure and is in danger of curtailing to the ones
who care about our natural habitat and our cultural icons the least.

What can you do?
Write the Ontario government.  I just did.  My letter is below. Use it, change it as you please,
just let your voice be heard on behalf of the innocent.
Help fight for the wolves and coyotes PLEASE.

The deadline for letters/comments is tomorrow night 12pm,
It just take a few moments, especially if you go off my letter below.

For more info go here and write your comment/letter right here

(Thank You to those who do XO)

Hello,

I am writing to you today with a very heavy heart as I recently hear about the proposed changes to the management of the wolf, moose and coyote hunting regulations in northern Ontario (ERO 019-0405/ERO 019-0406).

Most people know that the moose population is not under attack by the wolves and coyotes but by climate change and hunters. As the world seems to worsen by the day, people are losing hope, now is the time more than ever that the population needs to believe in its government.  We simply cannot continue to see our government as the bad guys constantly stepping all over and using our amazing natural world to their advantage.  Please do not bow to the pressure of the hunters and instead show that the Ontario government will take steps to protect our moose, who are indeed a cultural symbol.

In this day and age where cruelty is being fought against at every corner of the world, be part of the movement to a kinder future and show that Canadians care to protect its wildlife.  Show that we are intelligent as we know there is absolutely no scientific proof that the new hunting law for wolves and coyotes will help the moose populations from declining. Also, consider that wolves, coyotes and moose have been living together in their own natural dynamic for longer than any of us have been around.  It is irresponsible and disgusting of anyone, especially our government, to move forward placing blame on the blameless when it should be looking at the real culprits: habitat loss, climate change, hunting, especially the hunting of moose calf.

By easing regulations, removing requirements for reporting, extending the hunting season we are taking a terrible step backwards instead of forward.  By making these changes we are sending the wrong message about Canada, that we are irresponsible, cold and do not care to protect the amazing animals that help us a beautiful place to live in and experience

I implore my government to not take steps to make life easier for the hunting community but to instead protect the moose habitat and end all moose calf hunting.  I want to feel proud of how my government protects our iconic natural world and its sentient living beings.  I need my government to be protectors not destroyers.  Please reconsider the proposed regulations.

A Compassionate Concerned Canadian,
Mandy Saile

Paddling In The Forest

This was a paddle down one of my favorite kayaking routes, super close to where we live.

We were able to paddle into the forest, usually not accessible because the whole river was flooded.

Boon Burger

If you ever gave a chance to try a place called Boon Burger don't pass it up.

It's Canada's first all vegan burger cafe chain and is seriously super awesome.

Seeking Beauty

It's sometimes hard to stay positive & happy when you read all the news out there...
it feels like it's all bad...like the story of the kids stuck in that underwater Thailand tunnel, ugh...
or stories recently from certain animal sanctuaries I follow online, it all weighs heavily on my heart.
(which is why I started doing Share Sunday, to share positive & beautiful things).
I always find beauty here in our home & with the bunnies which I can rest my weary heart upon

but we're also lucky to live really close to this beautiful lake and it has the magic touch
of lifting a lot of burdens with a nice dose of sunset gorgeousness.
I know I am not the only one feeling super sensitive right now, it seems to be a 'thing'
straight across all types of people on all types of social media right now, isnt' that interesting!
Tell me my peeps, what is your secret for a much needed spark of joy & lightness???

A Few Weeks Back

This was a few weeks back, before Betty-Loo died...

We were just out doing our usual ice melting Spring explorations.

Lake Life

We are so lucky to live pretty close to this big beautiful lake...
it's only about a 10 minute walk away...
We go here a lot after work to decompress, for sunsets, for short breaks from the buns,
after, before & in between errands...
it always seems to beckon "Come sit and breathe for a spell.."

Our 2nd date was here, along this lake, a long leisurely stroll at night in thick heavy fog...
almost 25 year ago now...
we love it so, it's part of us. I tell my hon, when I die, he's to spread most of my ashes in this water!
It's a place that soothes, refreshes and amazes us with it's always changing beauty.
I hope you have a special place like this in your part of the world XO

Biking & Learning To Trust

This was one of my favorite days from this past summer...
It was a great bike path in a bird sanctuary North from us that went through such a varied terrain.

I was so proud of myself, it was the first time I had biked since my knee injury, let alone on such a challenging rocky hilly path....wohoo for letting go of fear and learning to trust my body again!

Canadian Beauty

We kayaked a lot this season, it's a happy place for me, it's one place I breath deeply & feel at peace...

How can I not be when there is this kind of beauty surrounding me (I see these in pastels do you?).

Fairy Lake Kayaking

Our adventure days don't always have a plan, sometimes we pack up the truck with food, boats and bikes and just head out of town and see where the day takes us, sometimes we just hike or sit & eat!

This particular day was spent paddling around a lake in Huntsville called Fairy Lake.  Even though
I pay for kayaking days with a lot of shoulder pain, I am so grateful for these days with my honey.
