Random Road Trips

One of our favorite things to do has always been just to pick a road and see where it takes us....this time it was way out in the middle of nowhere on active logging roads where I had to pee on the side of the road and where we were racing in front of logging trucks because there was nowhere to pull off safely!  But in the spots where we could pull off safely the scenery was breathtaking.

(this butterfly is called an Aphrodite Frittilary...Isn't that the prettiest name!)

We ended up at one point along the shores of St. Bernard where there was a sudden & stark reminder of the world we've created by eating animals!
But it was also a good reminder that we're lucky we have a vehicle & the time to take these random spur of the moment road trips that help us clear our minds & hearts of life's stresses, it's one thing safe things we can do nowadays as long as we stay in the vehicle and far away from people!!!

Hay In A Micro-Sanctuary

When the pandemic hit, our hay supplier was completely honest with us
and told us that he was having a hard time keeping up with his customers hay demands
and was also concerned with what was going to happen with the supply chain later on...
We appreciated that info, as the buns can go a spell without veggies & pellets etc
but they must have hay every single day, period.
So this is what $600 of top quality hay looks like!
We spend about $1400 at least on hay alone a year for 9 buns because we also supplement
this main kind here with other smaller bags of botanical, oat, alfalfa etc to liven up their options.

With 9 rabbits we go through 50 pounds of hay easily in about a month, sometimes more.
So we wanted at least a 6 month supply and
if any of our local bunny friends needed any we were able to share a little too.
We ordered only 2 boxes at a time about 2 weeks apart in consideration of the poor post carrier!
(Luckily our normal guy laughs and jokes with us when he brings these 50 pound boxes to the door).
We also got lucky in that the ladies at the store put bags of our usual Oxbow pellets aside for us too,
as apparently those flew off the shelves at the very beginning of this whole mess too.
We are staying on top of things, 6 month in, we still think there's going to another lock down!
It was scary at first, the ideal of not getting food for the babies and it was truthfully squirrely
for about 2 weeks at the beginning regarding fresh veg but we've managed...thankfully...phew!!!

Shipping During Covid19

So I have made the decision that as much as I LOVE packaging & shipping everything off
in a very timely manner, because of Covid19 & my partner being seriously immune-compromised
I will unfortunately only be braving/chancing the post office 1 day a month and that's it.
From my own website/IG/Blog etc, I will be shipping everything out
on the 15th of every month instead of my the usual weekly shipping.

To make up for it taking a little longer to get your purchases,
I will be including extra surprise treats in all of your orders, yayyy.
I know most of you understand and I am so appreciative of you & all of your orders,
each and everyone truly means so much to me and the buns.  Thank you XO.
(If you want, you can shop in my new Society6 shop & everything there is mailed out in 3-5 days).

Awesome News

OOHHHHH MYYY GOODNESS everyone
Ahhhhhhhh.
We thought we'd have to wait until the 19th for the pathology report from Jonathan's 3rd resection
but Jonathan's surgeon called us yesterday afternoon
and for whatever reason the pathology report took only 4 days instead of the usual 2 weeks
and I answered the phone for a private number which I hardly ever do...
and it was his surgeon calling to say there is NO SIGN OF THE CANCER WHATSOEVER...
he doesn't even have to get more BCG treatments at this point.

Just another scope in 3 months (for the next two-five years).
The re-occurrence rate is now less than 10%.
That's still a scary number when your talking about cancer but we're taking this as a win.
This is amazing news but it hasn't sunk in yet, I think we're just too exhausted.
The doctor did say that his immune system is completely shot & he basically doesn't have one now and that it will take some time to build up again, and the two pulmonary embolisms take up
to 2 years to be reabsorbed back into the body so we must keep being super vigilant about Covid19.
But we can go back to life now without that double edge knife of fear constantly cutting into us.
We're going to have an awesome summer even if we have to continue to self-isolate
and just putter around the yard & house with the buns and each other...
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Yayyyyyyy.

Mask It Up

I am pretty proud of myself that I got some masks made up for us
because my sewing machine & I definitely don't get along! I don't have the patience for bobbins!

I'll have to have patience to make just a few more though for my Mom and a couple friends.
How is this even life now!!!  Just because humans are disgusting & eat everything that moves!!!!

Benefits To Being A Hermit

Oh sorry guys to disappear for almost a week...
my head has been awful, I had a bad fibro flare Tuesday, Wednesday and well life, you know!!!
I am reminded today though at how lucky I am to be a homebody/hermit!
Jonathan says my default is Social Distancing, ha ha!
(Although my friend just dropped off vegan cheese & it was hard not to open the door to hug her)!

I think that's natural, as an artist, a sanctuary mama, a chronic pain sufferer, I love being home.
I am happy here.  If I have Jonathan, the bunnies, my art supplies, books, plants and movies, I am good but I realize alot of people are having a hard time with staying put at home away from people.
Hang in there guys...if we all shelter at home, we'll get through this alot faster!
What are some of your happy things that your concentrating on to help you get through isolation?
