Random Road Trips

One of our favorite things to do has always been just to pick a road and see where it takes us....this time it was way out in the middle of nowhere on active logging roads where I had to pee on the side of the road and where we were racing in front of logging trucks because there was nowhere to pull off safely!  But in the spots where we could pull off safely the scenery was breathtaking.

(this butterfly is called an Aphrodite Frittilary...Isn't that the prettiest name!)

We ended up at one point along the shores of St. Bernard where there was a sudden & stark reminder of the world we've created by eating animals!
But it was also a good reminder that we're lucky we have a vehicle & the time to take these random spur of the moment road trips that help us clear our minds & hearts of life's stresses, it's one thing safe things we can do nowadays as long as we stay in the vehicle and far away from people!!!

Staying Home

We are so confused by some peoples flippant attitudes about Covid when this is happening
(click here), sure this is in the US but the point is that this is how bad & scary it will get everywhere with things opening up, if we don't continue to be vigilant
and shelter at home as much as possible.
Almost half a million people worldwide have died so far & it's only going to get worse.
I admit, I am one of the ones hoping that the Ontario borders stay closed & closed tight and I
don't think that any kind of travel should be allowed period unless for medical emergencies.

Yes, I wanted to go to the Black Lives Matter marches so badly, but I just couldn't chance it.
Sure, I miss my people as much as the next person but not enough to put myself &
immediate family in danger of contracting this insanely efficient & smart virus!
It's frustrating to people like me who need to stay super safe because I live with a seriously immune-comprised individual...if my husband catches this thing, he's likely to die because he has so many other underlying issue, like chronic asthma, a low immune system & 2 lung clots!

I don't know about you but because I am able to stay home safe & sound, I am.
Everything we get is by contact-less pickup or delivery
and in both cases we wash everything that comes into the house like crazy.
And when we go out we always wear masks no matter how uncomfortable they are.
Masks should be made mandatory period...you don't wear one, off to jail you go....
I know that's an extreme view however this whole this is a very extreme situation!
People refusing to go without masks are putting everyone else being careful in danger.

I am hearing about teenagers actually having Covid parties where they know one of the kids is sick
and they sell tickets and whoever gets sick first & is diagnosed by a doctor wins the money pot!
How insane is that.
And people are always telling me how kids these days are so smart & a shining beacon of the future!!
Yeah right!!!  Hardly any of them are choosing to go vegan, so exactly how smart is the future!!!

I am truthfully finding it all disheartening & at the moment very hard to navigate...
In Northern Ontario our outbreak numbers are pretty good
BUT that doesn't make it any less scary for us, we've been through hell the past year
and I am finding a lot of people not understanding our hesitancy,
especially when they see everyone returning to normal activities and get together's etc...
you just don't know who is carrying this thing, that's the biggest problem, you can't trust anyone!
I don't like hurting people or being rude by declining visits & offers for dinner parties, barbecues, etc
but refusing everything right now is the only way we feel safe.

I hope your staying strong too out there & not letting anyone pressure you into being unsafe.
Good Luck XOXO

Spectacular Beauty

It amazes me, how different each and every sunset is, the beauty is so much I can't take it all in...

I hope I never ever ever become the kind of person who doesn't notice all the spectacular beauty!

Suntastic Sunset

I am just beyond words that I get to have this kind of beauty in my everyday life.
This is the lake near our home, just a 10 minute walk away, there are plenty of public accesses.

We keep our eyes peeled from wherever we may be and if it looks like it'll be a decent sunset
we head to the water (when my head allows).  My heart fills with gratitude for all this beauty!

A Majestic and Marveling Paddle (Part One of Two)

I never got around to showing you these photos from last Fall
It was one of my all time favorite paddles ever...
I have to show you now before anymore times goes on.
It was just one of those days that just felt so magical and perfect.
One for the photo albums for sure that I'll never ever forget.

We amazingly not only had our usual heron guiding us up and down the river but her new baby too!
The day was golden and colorful and warm and just bathed in perfection
and it just made me insanely super happy to be alive
and just so steeped in gratitude for all the natural beauty surrounding me that day.

Grey Georgian Bay

It was a good day for a drive about 2 hours South of us...
just to do some small town exploring on a dreary wet rainy day around Georgian Bay

It included a stroll down a quiet main street, a pizza devoured under a bridge & us anxiously
jumping in the truck to zoom back home cause we both suddenly missed our 8 fur-babies!

This Is Summer

I can't express how grateful I am for my pretty magenta kayak...
nor the handsome bearded guy of mine who can lift it up onto the Jeep rack for me, ha ha!
(We're both short....I am 5.2  and my love is only 5.5
but we found a way to get our boats on our very tall Jeep...where there's a will, there's a way, ha ha).

Our boats bring us to such lovely lovely spaces & we see such amazing beauty.

This pretty little deer was all curled up in a ball sunning herself on the river bank...
until I squealed with delight at the sight of her that is!

This particular river leads into the big lake that we live a short walk from and on this day the waves
were big & choppy so some exhilarating wave play was had, ha ha...

We saw tons of turtles sunning themselves on logs...they weren't too worried about us.

(Following this day we promptly went out for a waterproof bag for the camera, ha ha!)

Oh it's so awesome & centering to be out in nature...enjoying it gently & healthfully.

For us, that's what this summer is all about...
Being out in our boats & being in nature, enjoying each other,
getting big & small house projects done together and just being outside in the yard with the buns.
It's feeling like a lovely summer so far.

Bliss

Beautiful countryside, the open road, sun shining, top off the Jeep, 'Morning Benders' blasting
and my man by my side...

...all the makings of a blissful perfect day.
Ahhhh.

A Syrup Festival Day

When you live in a small city, you have to make your own fun...

So we recently spent a beautiful afternoon with a dear friend, at a local Maple Syrup Festival.

Where there were gorgeous old cars to drool over...

...and some highland game fun happening, like the caber toss...

 ...where there was mechanical bull-riding...

...and an entertaining comedic show put on by lumberjacks...

And at the end of that day...
It was the perfect time to let a couple bunnies out to enjoy the yard...

(I know it's blurry but look at the precious fun she is having...look at that curled up ear, awww)

...and to cozy up in soft cozy blankets in the lawn and take abit of a rest
alongside your best friends whiles those precious bunnies romp (& the advil kicks in!)...

...We usually don't have a hard time finding a good time
& enjoying a beautiful day...ha ha.
and I just had to share these photos & the day because that's exactly why I blog...
to share my joys & love & for witness to awesome days like this one was.
