Getting Back To It...I Hope!
Sorry for that sudden long absence you guys...it's been a rough go. I was diagnosed with another chronic invisible illness and about a week after that my honey hurt himself and he almost died...
But I think things are calming down, I've missed this blog of mine. Give me a chance to catch up
and I'll let you all know briefly what's been going on. Thanks everyone for your patience XO.

One Of My Favourites
My dear friend, mentor, inspiration and high-school art teacher Dave Carlin
has had an exhibition "50 years in the hole"
running at the Alex Dufresne Gallery in Callander
(I highly recommend a visit if your anywhere local to me before it closes this coming Saturday).

Dave means so much to me because of his strength and zest for living,
but also as an artist who is never ever done pushing, learning and growing.
I am a very proud and happy owner of several of his works and every time I pass them
I am not only inspired to dig deeper into what I do but I am happier.
I am happier because they remind me of how important it is to have visual splendor in the world.
They remind me that it's a amazing thing to share our stories and vision....
and very much like Dave, I jump on every single day that I get to create
& add a spark of beauty to the world.
I am was so so lucky to have had someone like Dave in my early life as an artist
& I am extra lucky to still have him in my life now as an established artist...he continues to push me.
I hope every artist out there is lucky enough to have a 'Dave' in their life...
if you don't, seek one out because it sure does make life that much more inspirational...
and to me, inspired living is one of the big things this is all about XO.

Art Cards At The Framemakers
The Framemaker & Gallery has been carrying and selling my handmade Art Cards for years now
and I am so appreciative for them (dearest Michelle & Anna XO)
not just because the people there are lovely
but because I am honored to have my work in one of North Bay's best stores
that I've been going to for inspiration since I was a kid...
it's so full of beautiful and inspiring art and goodies.
The Framemaker & Gallery is located at 168 Main Street West, downtown North Bay.
So any of you local peeps out there do hop on in, grab a couple of my handmade archival art cards, and meet Anna & Michelle, if you haven't already done so, you'll love them & the shop.
I just brought in a big batch of brand new beautiful cards, there's 25 brand new designs to see
and all of the square ones have been glitterized (if that's not already a word, it should be, ha ha!).

Sweet Glorious Sketching
More sketching is underway,
it'll take me lovingly into what will hopefully be a great weekend.
I am drawing majestic herons with giant dragonflies over luminescent moons...
quiet little rabbits, sweet little ducklings, jumping fish and leaping frogs...
cute little rodents & smiling salamanders,
all whiles listening to Willy Nelson sing some Gershwin! ahhh...ha ha

New Adventures
Whew, I am finding this post difficult to start,
being the very first post after telling you about Frenwyck, it feels too normal somehow!
but also because I've had a super bad migraine all week,
but also because I've had a super bad migraine all week,
but here I go, I'll keep it simple and short for both reasons.
I am diving into a brand new medium that I've been so anxious & excited to try...
weaving.
I have always loved wool and had a stash already started because I crochet a tiny bit. Than...
my encouraging hon spoiled me rotten & surprised me with an amazing & beautiful new assortment.
Than my Mom went through her wool stash & gave me a whole wonderful whack.
Than my Mom went through her wool stash & gave me a whole wonderful whack.
And after a nasty experience of buying myself a loom & supplies from a shop online, having them
rip me off, steal my money and close up shop! My honey & my Dad swooped in and saved the day by making me this lovely loom together (which makes it so much more awesome than a bought one).
I have a steep learning curve but my heart & fingers are buzzing with anticipation.

Low Light
Like any artist, I much rather work with my colours in bright natural light...
so on rainy days like today when it's rather dark, I usually do sketching & studio clean up.

Whether head pain wants to keep me from my studio or not
I refuse to not get my studio e-news out!
So stubborn-ness and determination wins out in the end!...it was just mailed out.
I hope you'll sign up for it if you don't already receive it. Sign up is just there on the right, see it?
