Miss You Teela

4 years ago today I lost my best friend, my soul baby,
my sunshine Teela...

The plain truth is she took a huge part of me with her when she died
suddenly in my arms.  I miss her Every. Single. Day.

Teela's Portrait

I revisited the portrait I did of Teela.
There was something about it that felt unfinished and I realized what was needed...

She needed some of the pink & purple from the background.  Now I am in complete love with it.
This one is just for me.  I don't know if I'll be offering prints etc or not, we'll see.

Soul Mates

I finally finished this piece, which was really a journey of healing for me.
It's of my departed bestie, sunshine, honeybee & favorite girl Teela & our sweet sweet Yuuji.
I am titling it
"Soul Mates"

The original is for me and me alone.  It's going on my side of the bed.
I will let you all know when/if prints of it hit my shop...
I am currently setting up a new shop so you might (soonish) be able to get it on bags, mousepads etc.
I hope you love it as much as I do.

Pretty Tee-Tee

My image of my beloved late Teela is coming along nicely...I am really happy with it so far.

This piece is just for me...she's gone but is still with me in every minute of every single day.

It Would Have Been Her Day

I know I may seem normal, I am back to instagraming, to blogging (not quite to the studios yet)
and no doubt there is beauty and love ricocheting off the walls in our little home...
but there's still a massive hole, that we have to mostly try our best
to ignore right now for self-preservation,
if we don't we'll fall into it's gaping all consuming black despairing depths...
so we're doing our best to concentrate on all that love bouncing around us still.

Today would have been her 4 year homecoming...
on this day 4 years ago we adopted her, our first shelter baby, our sunshine, our Tee-Tee & baby girl.
She was only 5...she should have lived another 5 at least...she was so healthy, until she was not.
I miss absolutely every thing about her, so much so that I can't breathe and I feel weak in the knees.
Especially our nightly snuggles...without them, without her, I am not 100% me.
I miss you baby girl. Forever.

Kissing In Sunlight, What Could Be Better

With the winter sunshine usually comes a pounding head...
something about the barometric change and the blood vessels in my noggin just not liking it!

But the sunshine also brings out the cozy's & sleepies in the buns too
So, yep, I am good...even if I get nothing done today by snuggle up by these two.

One Whole Year With Tee-Tee

This past week we celebrated joyously...
For it marked
1 whole year that our Honey Bee Tee-Tee has been with us.
Making our precious orange haired girl just over 2 years old.

One year ago on December 8th we were driving a total of 8+ hours and almost 1000kms
in a super duper nasty snowstorm to adopt our Teela from the Toronto Humane Society.

Every single time I look at her little face my heart just swells.
I just simply can not comprehend how someone can give her away to a shelter...
but in the end I am hugely glad they did because she's finally found her way home!

She called to my heart & soul as soon as I saw her little face on those adoption pages.

She was right from the start a balm to my heart
(missing our Ella Luna & during the last difficult months with Roo just 8 months after Ella passed).
She quickly became one of my brightest lights that I can't imagine life without.

Jonathan says that she & I are soul mates and I believe he is right.

She is adorably clumsy and so insanely endearing that she melts your heart.

She is so special. SO sweet, so funny & spunky.

And oh boy this little one just loves her Yuuji...
I find it sweet that they were across from each other at the shelter for a short spell.
It took awhile to bond them but now they are thick as thieves and so so precious together.

Jonathan is always saying 'How many different kinds of cute is she..." ha ha.
As naughty as she can get...she has her daddy wrapped around her little paw, ha ha ha!

and she is a huge foodie...she wants to eat everything! including walls!
The only things she's turned her nose up at so far is pickles, ha ha!
She LOVES her nightly sips of honeyed green tea with us at bedtime...
and buzzes super loud like a honey-bee...hence the nickname.

You know me, I could go on & on about my babies!  So I'll end here and just say...
Happy 1 year homecoming to our little Honey-Bee-Tee-Tee.
We can't imagine life without you our little sweet darling.

Teela

We are SO excited and head over heels in love,
And happily announce the addition of a new family member...
We have adopted a new little girl from the shelter.
We've named her Teela.
She is just over 1 year old.
We rescued her a week ago today & she fits perfectly into our little family already.
She's a tiny little babe weighing under 4 pounds...
her nickname at the moment is 'Tiny Teela', ha ha, for she's the smallest rabbit we've ever had.
She has a voracious appetite...We've never seen a rabbit eat hay like this girl, holy smokes.
And water too, we've never had a bun drink so much water either.

She's so lovely & sweet.
She loves cuddles and snuggles.
She's very smart and very clean, we are super happy with her potty habits.
And she's seemed to have settled into her new home really easily and very quickly.
I don't think that the arrival of a new babe in our lives has ever felt quite this easy or relaxed...
not since our Ella Luna anyhow.
(the 'La' part of her name is indeed in homage to our foo foo Ella.)
The only thing, which we've never dealt with before,
is that she has a super serious fear of being picked up...
Many rabbits don't like to be picked up but they either get used to it or tolerate it if done properly.
I don't know what's happened to this little sweetie to give her such a serious fear...poor girl...
It sure will make any vet visits and nail trimming very interesting/stressful!

We are in the chaotic/fun/precious time right now of learning each others routine,
and just spending oodles of time with her to make her feel super loved and safe.
I admit I am pretty much just spending my days going between all the buns & getting little else done,
but I also admit that I don't mind this bunny-full routine one little bit...it fills my heart beautifully.

So now you know one reason why I've been absent from blogging, ha ha.

I'll be posting about my very first shelter visit soon...it was a hard but very positive experience.
And, we can't thank the shelter, her caregivers there, or her adoption agent Kimberly enough.
