Create A Life Of Purpose
Recently I was chatting with my friend Yan about the animal sanctuaries we've created,
theirs with farm animals, ours with rabbits (and with some other creatures along the way as well).
We chatted about how support for our animals families can often times feel very thin
and how it's next to impossible to travel because that external support can be very hard to find.
But Yan put it like this "We've created a life with purpose and what's better than that",
no trip around the world can ever replace this life we've sculpted for ourselves &
our animal friends and family to have beautiful safe sanctuary in constant love and peace.

For me, my life of purpose also includes learning, almost on a daily basis to deal and contend
with all the pain I have to live with & to maybe inspire other sufferers along the way.
To carve out time to create happy images that may just add some charm to this big bad world
on top of creating this loving cozy kind vegan safe home and sanctuary for my love of 25 years &
all of our wayward misfit buns.
I am loving my life...this life of purpose...there's very very little I would change about it.
Are you loving yours? & if not what are you waiting for??

Sweet Saturdays
I LOVE these freezing cold winter Saturdays (as we rest up from a big scare with Yuuji this week)
you know the ones that are just drenched in sunlight
where it's too damn cold to go out anywhere...
where you stay inside all happy as clams...all warm and snug...
My New Year head-pain wise hasn't been off to a cracking start,
I've been having more pain-filled days than not BUT that's okay because in between that crap,
I get all of this too...sun-dappled precious as pie bunnies,
a cozy sweet home and a gorgeous kind sweet vegan man waiting for/helping me. Ahhh Good stuff.

So Cozy
Routines are shifting. This time of year we bring flowers from outside in to survive our cold nights...
We picked the last of the garden veg & we're spending more time inside with the buns...it's so cozy!

Pagoda Perfect
Even though it has largely felt like an 'off' season out in the part of the yard where the rabbits play
because we were out there without our Frenwyck and Teela and than Elsie...
There was still appreciation and gratitude for the beauty we've created & collected there.

Days with Jelly Bean were even more precious, time spent with my niece was special too.
And of course it was our newest shelter adoptee's Leisel & Misa's first summer with us too.
This is one of my favorite places, don't give me a trip to Hawaii, just give me my yard full of buns!

The Amazing Jelly-Bean
I am amazed at the tenacity of our Jaks aka Jelly-Bean.
Last summer I felt so melancholy whenever I was outside with him,
assuming that it would be his last summer with us...
but he's still here this summer...I am so so grateful and amazed at his luck and strength.
We've been expecting him to pass any day now for the 2+ years
ever since his congestive heart failure diagnosis.
Since than we've said goodbye to our fabulous Frenwyck, my sunshine Teela & our elegant Elsie.
It goes to show that you never ever know how life is going to turn out & to never count anyone out!

Prepping Pretties & Feeling Grateful
I've been spending a lot of time preparing/finishing up linears and transferring them to paper.
I like to do this in piles so that I have a huge stack of work all ready to go for when my desires
switch from working with lines and pencil to needing to work colour and shapes.
(as you can see from my studio bulletin boards, I always have a lot of drawings & linears on the go)
This week as school begins again, I am reminded of how amazing it is that I get to make art full-time.
I've come a loonnnggg wwaaayyyy, I've worked my ass off, I've paid my 'dues'
but knowing all that I am still so aware every single day of how lucky
I am to spend my day with art & bunnies and my working-from-home honey.

Rainy Day Happies
Despite the fact that rainy days are huge triggers for my pain...
I LOVE love love being stuck inside, curling up with sketchbooks, eating, tidying...
Buns get extra time, the house is extra cozy & the back deck has a cover so we can all go out & snuggle up and listen to the rain...ahhhh loveliness....I hope your embracing a grateful heart too XO.

Time To Tuck Them Away
We are always so reluctant to pull the racks off the truck & to tuck our kayaks away...
because it means a long 7 month wait before we can use them again! Sigh!! Tis life in the North!
