Last Years Book Pile

So it was a pretty good reading year in 2018 (26 books read).

These 3 I L-O-V-E-D (All Alice Hoffman's so of course!)

The following books I thought were really great... 

The next are ones that were good but they are just shy of being 'great' in my opinion...

These next ones I unfortunately have to give a 'just okay' stamp, I just couldn't get into them...

and unfortunately these ones I can't recommend at all because well, I really didn't like them at all...

I hope this helps you find some good reads this new year...I will always recommend Alice Hoffman!

Big Books Small Bunny

Is it the big bookshelf's and picture books that make our Higgins look extra small...

or is he so small he makes everything else look bigger, ha ha, either way here he is in a favorite spot.

2017 Book Pile

I completely forgot, again, to do my yearly book pile post.

The following 5 are ones that I loved so so much, that I am keeping on my bookshelf,

that I couldn't put down & which I would highly recommend giving a try...

The following 3 were really great too, just a step down for this reason or that

from me super loving them but I still would recommend that you check them out...

(yes that is my poor honey in the hospital bed in that photo!)

The following 3 were in my opinion good but ones I can't put on my great or best piles...

(and yes I know, one of them is Alice Hoffman, my all-time favorite, but I've got to be honest!)

The following 2 I truthfully kinda felt like I was wasting my reading time with but I am sure some

out there might find redeeming qualities, I just for whatever reason in the moment couldn't...

 And these 4 books, sadly, I just couldn't recommend, these 4 I had to push myself to get through...

that's just my humble opinion, I can be pretty hard on books, sometimes it's just the flow of writing

that throws me off from enjoying it, sometimes it's just too much detail that feels useless,

you might want to give them a try, I think any book is worth a try, but these ones I just didn't enjoy.

17 books read...not a stellar reading year that's for sure!

I try to average 2 books atleast a month but it was a hard headpain year

and a very hard year for loosing buns & dealing with sick buns etc.

Let's hope 2018 is stellar and that I find way more to recommend to you.

World Of Words

In my world reading is a priority...

As a kid, I always loved books, story time with my Mom was one of the best parts of the day.

Now as an adult, I still have a love affair with books...in fact I think I'd be considered a bibliophile.

 

Books just make me happy... 

 

 

The feel of them.  The smell of them...let alone what's inside them.

I can't imagine days where I don't settle down within the magic of words (usually with a salad too).

Words weaved together feed me body and soul.

A Great Read

I just finished this book...If your a fan of historical fiction,

 

 

Interested in the underground railroad & just love great writing give it a try.

Lino Al Fresco

We are outside...with music, peppermint schnapps and a current read...

Good Treats and Indulgent Reads

It's been a stressful few weeks with the buns.

Jaks got a big infection over his whole belly than the skin dried severely, cracked like crazy & bled.

That meant more antibiotic rounds, etc, than my back completely went out...We're feeling tired!

So this afternoon after Jaks gets his stitches out, finally after 3 weeks poor guy,

I am going to take a bit of time today to

indulge in good treats & an indulgent read.

(especially since all my tax preparations went super smoothly yesterday)

 

 

I consider myself a good reader.  I read a rather wide range of books.

I read several books at a time with no troubles in keeping stories & tones straight.

I will diligently force myself through a crappy book in hopes to find some redeeming quality!

I actually think Shakespeare is quite enjoyable...(but you know my favorite is Alice Hoffman)

but now and then

a gals just gotta indulge in something super light & sweet...

like a Tinkerbell story...of which, yes, I have a few, ha ha!

It Takes Little

Did you have a good weekend?

For me, more often than not, a great weekend involves staying in...

with good food, good company and a great read....ahhhh.

(oh and binge watching "Mozart In The Jungle", I love it, have you seen it?) 

 

 

I think it's crucial to always strive for the 'big stuff', whatever that may be

but I think it's also so important to never lose appreciation for all the sweet small stuff,

for it's that stuff that binds all together to be just as awesome as the big.
