Pishner Coming Along
Mr Pishner Toppingale is almost complete, the colored pencil part is atleast. People always ask me how I come up with my character names but it's no secret & it's simple, they just pop into my head.
I have quite a few new pieces to show you all but my scanner is still dead & I haven't found
a decent replacement that I am happy spending my money on yet so bare with me!

Shimmering Rabbity Sweetness
This has been what my desk upstairs looks like, full of little beauties getting their finishing touches.
I love this part...applying varnishes, clean edges, titling, adding sparkles, attaching hangers etc.
As I was telling you in one of my last posts, I work all over the house to get work done whiles I
spend time with all of our 9 rescue buns so I work on quite a few pieces all at the same time...
For a spell it seems like I am getting nothing new done and than all of the sudden bam a whack
are finished and lovely and whimsical and shimmering with good happy rabbity mojo, ha ha!

I Messed Up
I was so happy with how my nesting doll was turning out
but than I worked on her during a bad migraine when I shouldn't have and guess what
I completely screwed up the background! I made it way too dark, I used the wrong medium,
I wanted to scream but than I calmed myself down and said okay Mandy, this is fixable...
The only thing to do was to cut her out which was more difficult than usual because
she's on thick watercolour paper but after I cut her out it was looking good again, phew!

So now I am just inking the thick paper sides so they aren't so noticeable than I'll lay her back
down, this time when I figure out the background I'll wait until I am clear headed!!!

Starting With A Pink Bunny
I have so many plans for studio work...probably way too many to be anywhere near realistic...
Excitement builds, at the drop of a hat, about the smallest art project & keeps me up at nights!
I won't list them, they are my delicious little secret until I let you all see them...
But as I work harder, I must also just try my hardest to get as many of them done as I can,
because towards the end of 2017, I really realized just how much time I loose to chronic head pain.
My word is still "Fluidity" I'll let the year flow as it's meant to & as it has to,
BUT this yes I going to do my best not to let anything superfluous run away with my time & energy!
I am diving into myself and into my art more than every before...
I will offer my heart & soul through colour and shape and composition.
I will offer my heart & soul through colour and shape and composition.
I begin small and sweetly and excitedly with a pink leaping rabbit...
I can't wait to see 2018 unfold, pain-riddled or not, your going to be beautiful XO

She's Looking Pretty
I am doing this pretty doll on watercolour paper which takes layers of colored pencils beautifully
but which I find a lot more time consuming because I find that you do have to put down more layers to cover the texture of the paper (I like my paper grain to be hidden by the time I am done)...

I am glad I started showing you guys all of these detail & in progress shots.
I think it's nice for people to really see all the detail I put in my work.
I hope your enjoying these closer looks?

He's Almost Done
This golden monkey of mine has taken forever only because
I've been working on so many pieces at the same time.
But it's just about finished and as usual, I can't wait to show you.
P.S. I just renewed a whack of older art prints in my shop, do hop over and check them out.

A Printmakers Companion
I have several linos all finished, just patiently waiting there in a pile waiting for me to pull test prints from them but I honestly just keeping finding myself moving on to the next one to cut.
I think it's because the area I have set up to do my cutting in is in Misa's main area & it just feels like such a sweet precious time, mornings cutting blocks with this sweetie that I just don't want to stop!

Weekend Planning
Saturdays or Sundays always find me in the studios for those are my days
to try to plan out what I hope to achieve the coming week.
to try to plan out what I hope to achieve the coming week.
(Sometimes I get sucked in for more than a short time even though I try to take weekends off)
Best laid plans are usually halted and slowed by chronic head pain but that's just part of my life.
Knowing what I want to achieve helps my spirit push past the negatives
and look forward to the possibilities of each new, hopefully pain-free days!

Colour Me Happy
I can't help but feel happy whenever I sit down with my colours...
Especially at the very beginning of a piece, when it's all going beautifully!
