From Scatch With Love

Just before winter (bfore Jonathan got sick)

he made me this beautiful new work desk for my upstairs studio.  I LOVE it.

He said that my old one was bending in the middle from the weight of all the plants I had on it

and well Flynn sleeps underneath so he said 'you need a much safer one' & here it is made with love.

Supplies & Bunnies & Sun Oh My!

Ah A Favorite Place

Ah studio time...now matter how long I've been an artist, no matter how much or hard I work...

 The days I get to be among my plants & colours is always one of my favorite places to be.

Missing My Spaces

With so much going on health wise I haven't been in my studio much lately...

I miss it terribly, both of my studios, I feel kinda guilty about that but it's the truth, I miss my work.

 I haven't been able to concentrate on anything lately for all our health worries but I am seeing that

I have to get in there for a bit somehow very soon for my own sanity, I am just not me without it!

Lydia & Her Room

Lydia and I are trying to figure out where to put our little pink Xmas tree this year...

Desk space is at a premium & we do have to keep light cords away from those nibbly teeth!

Studio Break

It's been a long heatwave...summers are just getting wetter and way hotter we find.
It's hard on the buns to be stuck inside so much, especially when they know it's summer out
but even if it wasn't too hot the mosquitoes are just too bad & now of course it's shad fly season!

I am just super duper grateful that we have AC now & can keep everyone cool and nice long
days inside in my studio (currently tidying & reorganizing) feeling cool as a cucumber
is feeling very nice too, the outdoor chores aren't going anywhere after all!

Studio Sweetness

So this is what most of my days look like (besides the pain)...sweet, soft...joyful...

Studio Cleaning With Rabbits

I usually try to tidy my studios, upper and lower & prepare and plan for a fresh week ahead

on Fridays but sometimes, head-pain depending, I don't get it all done, so I tackle it on Mondays.

I love this part, it connects me to the spaces that I spend ALOT of time in

but I admit, I do get sidetracked an awful lot by all the adorable cute rabbits that inspire me!

Quiet & Raw But Good

I've been back at it...

to art & bunnies & all the good beauty amidst the bad...

Things are still very raw and we are feeling very quiet...

But Jaks obviously doesn't have many days left, he needs me back at work,
at my desk, keeping his old bones company.
I admit I feel embraced & bolstered by the cozy whimsy of my art spaces.

Working, Working, Working

I am whirling in circles between the studios, my new website currently underway & the bunnies...

Things feel crazy but my migraines & headaches have been a lot better the past 3 weeks, hooray!

Headed Into Cozy

We are headed into a weekend that's going to look a lot like this...studio time and bunnies...

The typical winter weekend...my favourite as you know already...hope your cozy as a bug too XO.

New Vinyl For A New Year

So last Fall I found myself a huge roll of vinyl for printmaking

and with some wrangling and fighting I got enough of the sucker rolled out on the floor

so I could cut off a large piece and than that into smaller pieces.

I am so so happy with it...it cuts like a dream, let alone when it's heated on my heat-board.

Mind you, it's been rolled up for 7+ years so it's not going to loose it's curl easily,

I'll have to sandwich a whack of it in between boards and

leave it by my studio heater in hopes that that helps it flatten out eventually!

But it feels so good to be cutting again after long holidays away from it.

It's part of my day that I love so much...AM's with vinyl and Misa at my side nibbling my feet.

Starting With A Pink Bunny

I have so many plans for studio work...probably way too many to be anywhere near realistic...

Excitement builds, at the drop of a hat, about the smallest art project & keeps me up at nights!

I won't list them, they are my delicious little secret until I let you all see them...

But as I work harder, I must also just try my hardest to get as many of them done as I can,

because towards the end of 2017, I really realized just how much time I loose to chronic head pain.

My word is still "Fluidity" I'll let the year flow as it's meant to & as it has to,

BUT this yes I going to do my best not to let anything superfluous run away with my time & energy!

I am diving into myself and into my art more than every before...
I will offer my heart & soul through colour and shape and composition.

I begin small and sweetly and excitedly with a pink leaping rabbit...

I can't wait to see 2018 unfold, pain-riddled or not, your going to be beautiful XO

Hopefully In The Studio

It's been a hard week for head-pain...I am behind again on originals I've wanted to get finished up...

But as I always say, I can only fight against the pain so much, there's only so much I can do...

So hopefully next week is better and I can start getting some of these beauties photographed & listed!

Colouring Feathers

Another new bird is in progress...

you can see my golden monkey pushed off to the side...

that is just for now, I haven't forgotten him

it's just that coloured pencil is so unforgiving with mistakes,

so if I am very unsure of how to move forward like on the background of the monkey...

than I put the piece aside & start a new one till the answer comes to me...

sure sometimes you have to push on and work it out but I listen to my gut
and if it says to me 'nope, not right now Mandy, give this one a small breather'.

I am usually glad that I did listen to my gut.

BUT I can't WAIT to finish him...I am thinking the background will be very dark & stormy.

Colour Me Happy

I can't help but feel happy whenever I sit down with my colours...

Especially at the very beginning of a piece, when it's all going beautifully!

More Butterflies

More butterflies are in the making.

Feeling Quiet

Sometimes it's nice just to work & be creative & not worry about showing everyone on Instagram etc
