Cozy With Green

My oh my life is cozy when you bask in green goodness

Green in my belly...Green outside aplenty...Green all over the house.

I cozy up to green as often as I can, how about you?

No Mouth...What!?

Here's something new on my upstairs desk...

and yep, your seeing correct, she's not going to have a mouth.

I am doing this beauty in polychromos on stonehenge.

I am still learning which mixes I like best, the polys on this paper feels like more work but I like it!

Bunny Brooch

I just wanted to hop in and show you all a little felt, stitched & beaded brooch I just finished up.

I've made 5 of these little cuties so far and am having a ball with them.

I'll let you know when it's available for purchase in my Etsy shop.

Something Different

Sometimes a gals just gotta play with her ink pens and do something abit different than her usual work....

such as this little trio of cats done in ink pen on canvas....

I still have to add some simple colour but here's a sneak peek...

Because there's nothing wrong with wanting to add abit of light, fun and cuteness to the world.

New Bird

Another new bird.

This one hasn't been named yet because like the other one in this series, I've still not decided weather or not I am putting words on the tiles, if I do, that would determine the title, hmmm....what to do, what to do...

Anyhoo, it's another coloured pencil collaged onto a painted wood block with a row of glass tile...



Just another simple piece to try to turn a more eyes to nature & the beauty of it's natural inhabitants whom we should be ever so respectful towards.

He'll be framed in a simple black frame. 

I don't know what's with this bird kick I am on in the last year or so, I think it's the beauty and possibilities in a birds shape, colour & plumage that has my creativity stirring lately...So I am just going with it.

I've still not gotten my scanner troubles figured out, but when I do a print will be available.

New Painting

I am working on more birds for my upcoming solo exhibition.  I am pretty happy with this new little guy...

We're going to put a black frame around it which will really make it pop.

There will be 6 in this little series & I think I will end up collaging words onto the tiles.

He'll be available as a print as soon as I get my scanner situation figured out.

New Painting

I just managed to complete this tiny new painting before a bad headache set in (more on that this Friday).  I've been away from my bunny imagery for far too long...I guess I've been preoccupied with birds lately (which will continue for abit longer since my upcoming solo exhibition is called 'Birds Of A Feather').  I think this little guy is really quite sweet & somehow seems like he's lite from within by starlight & moonshine.

I think I am going to be naughty & keep the original for myself.

I haven't decided on a name for him yet...any ideals?

Owlette Owan

Hi everyone, just hopping in today to show you a new creation.  I cut out some owl shapes from kiln dried pine quite a few weeks ago, I did about 10 of them & I had a ball designing each little character to be completely different from the next...and just last week I got around to painting the first little guy...

This series is called "Owlettes" and this little guys name is "Owan"...

I did this piece in acyclic and coloured pencil on gessoed pine.

 I am not sure yet if I'll bring the originals of this series to the gallery, to the City Streets Sale or put them up for adoption in my Etsy shop but until I decide I did just put a print version of him in my Etsy shop...

A New Watercolour

Lately I feel like I am in a creative whirlpool...I have no shortage of ideals, in fact maybe I have too many ideas...I am all muddled up and don't know exactly why...I think...I think, it's because I am not working on the pieces piling up in my sketchbook, the ones that make me giddy and keep me up at night...why am I just not diving right in to what I know will be creative bliss?!  I don't know...but I'll figure it out...in the meantime I'll just keep ploughing ahead, what else can one do!

Today I listed this original mixed media in my Etsy shop, it is mostly watercolour with abit of black coloured pencil and white acrylic paint. It is 5 x 7 inches and will/should slide nice and easy into any one of your favourite 5 x 7 frames.  It is a colour study for a larger piece but I think is worthwhile all on it's sweet tiny little self.

The super sweet Lori over at Happiness Through Art posted about a piece she bought from me recently...it so made my day and surprised me when I popped into her blog...thanks Lori so much, so glad she's in your home...she's in good, kind, sweet and lovely company:D

In my studio I always have music playing, often even when I am not in there, just becaues I like to 'fill' my space with my favourit tunes, often jazz...and I am soooo in love with Melody Gardot's music, I think she is my favourite female jazz singer next to Diana Panton and I just can't get enough of this one song...it's so fantastic and I am playing it over and over, I just had to share:D

Terrific Treat & Work Wrapped Up

Hi everyone. I open up my mailbox and much to my surprise and delight is a gift left behind by my lovely new friend Maria. She knows how much I love bunnies and she knows how much I love treats in the mailbox and I just think it was utterly sweet and wonderful, Thanks Maria, I love them. I of course had to take a few photos to show you all.

Late last week, I finally wrapped up a very big project. I've had a few people asking me what I've been up to and what's taking up most of my time. Well let me show you, it was all of this...

I illustrated a 23 page book for the MNR's Foresty department. It was an exciting project and all the illustrations revolved around conservation during tree cutting. All the images had to be in grey scale and so I did them all in graphite. I'll be posting them on my new website so you can have a clear look then, as I don't think the book will be published for a few months yet. I had to collaborate with 3 authors for this project and that was interesting and challenging. I put all of the sketches and final drawings on a weight scale yesterday and they measured almost 5 pounds! We had to go through so many sketches, roughs and changes. On retrospect I loved it all, the challenging parts, the 6 or 7 changes per images, the subject matter, everything and it really just reinforced the fact that I do really want to pursue more book work. So this is what has been keeping me so busy and close to my studio since January!

I hope you are all well and already in the process of haveing a creative day. For me, a tea and book awaits me out on the back deck and than I'll spend the rest of my day transferring some images onto my new favourite Waterford Saunders paper. Happy days all.
