A Whimsical 6

My hon bun asked if I could paint us a new house number...

So as a bird and 8 buns napped away in the heatwave around me...

I came up with this...

It sits whimsically on the brown brick of our house hinting, I hope, at the magic that lies within.

Sner Snickley

Hi Everyone,
meet my newest little chum
"Sner Snickley"
I just have to share abit of his story with you

...Sner Snickley was excited.
He was so excited that his hat was about to wobble right off the top of his furry head.
So very excited that he had so many goose bumps along his bald little tail that he was getting chilly!
Yes, he was excited because he was on his way to the airport.
In under 2 hours, he would be flying high above cotton puff clouds to a long dreamt of destination...
a place he's been dreaming of all of his young life and right into his current middle life...
yes indeedy,
it was time for Sner to jet off to the mystical and magical island of Ibiza.

He had everything he needed packed up beautifully and efficiently...
An extra bag to bring back souvenirs & hopefully atleast 10 fresh pineapples, his favorite fruit.
He was already signed up for a 2 week long diving class so he had snorkel and fins packed.
Embarrassingly, his tail and fair face crisped up in the sun like a piece of soy ham,
so he packed not 1 but 3 bottles of spf 80 lotion.  No need for more wrinkles after all!
He had several swimming trunks in various colours,
though the submarine yellow ones with red and blue Ferraris on them were his absolute favorite,
he didn't know why exactly but they just made his heart happy, so he actually bought 2 pairs of those.
He also made sure to pack his jet black dancing shoes and extra shoe polish
for he planned to dance alot and every single night of his vacation,
oh how his heart fluttered just thinking of dancing away the nights under the pink Ibiza stars
And of course he must bring his special suitcase, the one that perfectly houses his burgundy top hat...
he went no where without his lucky top hat...ever.
Maybe, just maybe he might get lucky enough to meet the future Mrs. Snickley on the dance floor.
Oh yes, indeedy, he was hat wobbling, goose bump chilly, super duper excited...

I can just picture Sneer's face the first time he sets foot on Ibiza, what fun that would be to see, ha ha.
Prints of Sner will be available soon.

Have an amazing weekend everyone.

Cabbriel

Whiles the golden sun set in my upstairs studio
and with a honeyed blueberry tea and sweet bunnies napped near my feet,
I finished up this new little painting.

Here's how he came about...

Do you want to help me name him???
Ideas anyone??? just put your suggestions in the comments section.

........
P.S.  Well just a few names were suggested...Moon Glow, Clover, Aussie, Aurora...
But I like the name my friend Aline suggested 'Cabbriel'...so I'll go with that, it suits him I think.

Prints of 'Cabbriel'  will be available in my Etsy shop soon.

Painted Bird Ceramic

Okay, so I finally admit it...
a secret love...
Painting ceramics!!!
I know they are typically abit 'cheesy'
and I always feel weird about painting something someone else made
But what can I say, it's a long-time love my mom turned me onto when I was a kid
and I recently indulged in this secret hobby to paint this...

...I think it took me about 8 or 9 hours straight but I think it was worth it.
I gave it to my mom.

See you soon and thanks oodles for hopping in for a look-see.

"At First Light" at The Blue Canoe Gallery

Hi Everyone. I just wanted to write a quick post today to show you a couple things. My coloured pencil painting "At First Light' from 2006 is in a group show called "Colours of Harvest & Fall" at the Blue Canoe Gallery in South River. It's so nice for me to see it nicely framed up...Thanks Jonathan for another beautiful frame.
Also, here is a photo of the progression on the carousel horse painting...as you can see it's going slowly but sure and steady wins the race in this case we believe! This photo was taken before our hours put in today so next time you'll see much more work done on the saddle area.
And that's about all for today. Be well and Happy Being.

A New Painting "Seal Sun"

Good Thursday everyone. I hope your all well. Let me show you a new painting that I finished yesterday. It is called "Seal Sun". It is 10.5"x9"x1.5". The sides of the wood are painted as well.

All of my images/paintings have a story or ideal behind them, and I love to share that when people specifically ask for it, but otherwise I really like people to bring their own stories to my imagery, I think it's more fun that way.

This painting is ready for hanging and is done with acrylic and coloured pencil on kiln-dried, gessoed wood, I also gave it 3 coats of a clear, water-bourne/resistant, uv protective coating.

To buy the original please visit my Etsy shop at www.bijouswhimsy.etsy.com , where I accept debit, mastercard and visa via paypal.

Thanks and I'll 'see' you at my friday posting. Be Well and Be Kind.

Missing Our Snicker-Noodle

Our sweet little Noo passed away on March 2nd after a very tough and brave battle with a very aggressive cancer. She was 6 years old but we only had her for 2, it just wasn't long enough. The night before she passed away in my arms, we watched a beautiful sunset together, during this precious time her eyes told me that she was ready to go see her partner Hobbs and her best buddy Thodan (who left us just this past November). The beauty of that sunset mixed with the beauty of her little spirit and soul was something I could almost not take in completely, that is the only way I can describe that moment. Noo was a bunny full of strength, heart, appreciation, forgiveness and sweetness. Now I could go on and on about our sweetie pie but all I'll say is that some of the best life lessons can indeed be taught by a small little rabbit. Thank you Noo for all that you gave us, you loved us so well and your with us every minute of every day.

Noo used to run around my painting room, under my easel, pulling on my pants as I worked because she always wanted snuggles. This weekend, I think I will spend some time in there and rearrange things...right now it's hard to be in that room to paint, I just end up standing still and missing and thinking about my little friend. So I thought perhaps if I switch things up abit, it'll make the room abit easier to be in. Which will be good for Hazel and Jin...Noo's sisters who miss having me in there all the time. So that shall be my weekend plan I think. I hope all of you have a great weekend. Take Care and I'll post again on Monday.
